Have I been conned?

Last week I was loading up my car with wine in the Intermarche car park when I was approached bu a very attractive and well dressed woman, probably in her early 50s. She was German and explained that she had her holiday villa robbed (not entirely unbelievable!), lost her passport, credit cards, cash etc and that it was going to take 3 days to get a replacement card sent to a local bank. Meanwhile she hadn't even enough money to get to the German embassy in Faro to get a replacement passport. Having overspent on the wine I only had 10 euros left and gave it to her. I've a feeling I was conned but a few years ago I lost everything in a break in so thought, just maybe she was genuine. That, combined with the fact that she was so well dressed and well spoken (not to mention attractive!) is why I gave her money. I've been conned. haven't I...???

Yes you probably have been robbed, what would she be doing at Intermache ? Funny place to be telling some one your woes, and it is easy to dress the part. Sure you hadnt been drinking the wine not just buying it ? Never mind your good deed will be rewarded.

Hadn't been drinking then but certainly was later. Intermarch had a good deal on some sparkly stuff so picked up 18 bottles for a barbie I was going to next day, still feeling the effects!

An old con that I have encountered in many different places over the years.

I was just wondering if she was known round the area.
Someone has just told me she was up to the same trick in Bar Talvez (near Brady's) recently and she was an alcoholic. Just warning others, maybe.

There was a similar scam at our local Waitrose carpark. A very attractive young lady asked me if I could give her a lift to the train station and no sooner had she got in the car she started to ravish me. It was only after I dropped her off that I realised she had taken my wallet. It seems to be a big problem because the very same thing happened to me 5 days in a row.

The most least suspecting person charading as a conman/woman are very likely to succeed!

Years ago, this elegant well-dressed Nigerian chap asked me for £10 so that he could get to Heathrow Airport as his wallet was stolen. He showed me his passport and his airline ticket, He was a journalist he told me and in obvious distress with tears! He seemed viable and this was in Regent Street in broad daylight. I refused; I felt guilty afterwards. I should have been charitable as it was my birthday, after all.

A year later exactly to the day there the same bugger was again In Oxford Street doing the same stunt. He approached me and I told him I will call the police to assist him and he said "No no no" and quickly ran off!

I am afraid yes, you have been conned. This person has taken advantage of your good nature.

If a distressed call for money help happens to anyone: show empathy and show willingness that you will get the police to assist him/her.That will immediately tell you if this is a genuine person in distress or a con artist!

If you're thinking of being an 'orange' seller on the roads around Albufeira, properly quite a lot. :P

LICY, you tart ! ! Surely the videos of you in the shower should be making enough money for you.
The spanking video was too much like hard work.

J.F. had good advice, police assistance, get your mobile out and see the reaction.

Have you been conned? Probably.

Have you been kind? Most definitely.

Well, you need to do double entry bookkeeping. You make income from er.........'entertainment and marketing' then offset it against expenses for rather mundane entertainment and marketing for the villa.

It's the oldest profession in the world........accountancy! 8)
