Saw this being promoted by Alan Sugar on Twitter - he says he has it in his Florida home. You'll need a good Broadband for it to work but it's an alternative to Cable.

Alan Sugar is a multi multi millionaire so the cost of downloads is hardly going to bother him.

The problem most of us will have is download speed, There are a number of sites which allow proxy access to UK TV. If you are content to download overnight you can then watch your favourite programmes at a later date.
" Live " affordable Uk TV through the internet may have to wait until Portugal replaces the old copper cable connections with fibre optic.

You beat me too it EMM.
After reading the Blurb, it appears that you have to have a minimum download speed of 4mgb.
I have lived in numerous Villas here around Portimao for six years and have never managed to achieve more than 2mgb.
It sounds an ideal solution if all goes Pete Tong, but if any one knows of a cheap way to increase the download speed, with unlimites access, then please let us know.

Sorry I did not mean to sound as negative.
The various expat forums are full of ideas on how those who want to can access the main UK channels in 2013.
Most however do need a constant high speed internet connection to watch live streaming TV.
There do not seem to be many places in Portugal where this is possible .

I am preparing to set up home theatre media computer in my lounge,I get a download speed of between 9-10 mbps.on Meo,and it has
been quite steady at that rate.Take a look at UNOtelly -UnoDNS could be the answer. This is a pay service,Filmon is another source of
UK tv.It's free in SD,but there is a fee for HD and recording facilities.

Not sure if it is a fibre optic connectionn or not EMM.I was only getting a 1.8 mb download speed when it was initially installed,so back to the
shop,a bit of a rant and it was increased to 10mb.I will report back when my new system is up and running.

My Home Theatre PC is up and running.I am using Meo,it's not fibre optic and I am getting over 9mb/s download speed. That enables you to watch full HD 1080 resolution.Have been using UnoTelly on a free trial.(its approx £5 per month) It will give you BBC iplayer Channel 4 and 5
on demand and lots more.Use Speedtest.net to find what speed you are getting.Filmon is another option,You should be able to watch standard definition tv on 2mb/s download speed. That is Filmons free option and its quite watchable.I am on a wi-fi connection and it's working well,
but if you are struggling with download speed you may need a wired connection or power line adapter. If you like US tv and music videos
try The Dare Wall, full series of CSI etc and it's free,

This may be another alternative. Its supposed to unblock your web access so you could use iplayer in Portugal. If anyone can get this to work please let me know as I'm in the UK at the moment.
