Hi people,

just a quick note to suggest a plan of action against the ever increasing fuel prices.

Now it is obvious that previous plans of not buying any fuel on a certain day is not going to have the desired effect because we always end up having to buy fuel the next day.

The solution is simple enough, all you have to do is pick the two biggest suppliers in your country and not fuel up there - avoid them like the plague.
These will then be forced to lower prices to attract consumers and presto, problem solved.
The lower prices will affect the other companies who will also have to lower prices to stay competitive.

After all, competition is supposed to be a benefit for the consumer - with fuel this has not been the case untill now.

What's the price for fuel at the moment in Portugal? In Holland 95 unleaded is at the moment about € 1,29/lt.

95 Unleaded costs € 1,02 in Portugal, but predictions are more increases before the summer.

When we had the fuel blockades a few years back - a few smaller stations in our area upped their prices even more and so customers never went back. They are now out of business and sights cleared for more housing!!
There is now the inconvenience of not having local petrol stations but larger ones further to get to!

Again another reason for me to move as fast as I can to CVO! That's a difference of € 0,27/lt! If I take 24lt. at the gas station then it's 24 x 0,27 = € 6,48 difference. That's almost the price of a beercrate with 24 bottles Heineken overhere!

A fair point, but the isea here is to blockade the biggest companies, as they are the ones who can actually influence fuel prices. Furthermore, here in Portugal there are not very many small private companies - when these generate profit the are usually bought by the big companies.

In the UK at the moment prices seem to be somewhere between 81.9 p per ltr - 83.9 p ! when it got over 80p last time everyone was up in arms, lorry drivers boycoted large petrol companies, it made headlines in local and national papers, but what about today? nothing!! no one seems to have made a fuss at all. When you live in the country like I do, you have to use a car, I have sold my gas guzler and now drive a small car, but with no public transport I have to go by car. Got you which ever way you look at it.

just don't boycott Cepsa on the lagoa Road... PLEEEEASE.

I don´t think Cepsa will have all that much influence on fuel prices in Portugal.

GALP has the biggest market share in Portugal, if anybody can affect the market significantly, it's them.
