Serious question folks, are there any pigeon fanciers out there, we've already had all the pigeon pie jokes and offers of pastry recipe's thanks! but seriously is anybody keeping pigeons that could give this bird home. It's a perky happy & clean bird, eats, drinks, grooms itself and wanders about, but has a wing injury and therefore can't fly - we just kept it safe from predators while it was injured, by it's never managed to take to the skies again - as we are due to return to the UK shortly we'd prefer to find it somewhere safe to live rather than have it destroyed.

Had to look twice there. Thought it might be someone trying to trump the swingers' post! Best of luck:D

We were ther 3 weeks ago, must have gone on the wrong night.

I would pop into the charity shop on the out road in CVO they they do a lot for the donkey sanctuary. Normally these sorts of charities tend to have contact details of other animal or bird sanctuaries in the area . Wish you luck in that one.

Maybe you didn't take my post seriously.A Palmeira is where the local pigeon fanciers meet. They all race in Portugal and belong to the club in Lagoa.Ask owner Rui he won't stop once he gets started!

Where it say "Reception" on the map, there is a smallholding there. The guy that lives there keeps pigeons and there are a couple more coups further up from him. That's if you still have the bird.

Hi All

Thanks for all your suggestions, yes I still have the pigeon, and he's happy enough, but I know that I can't leave him here as and when I return to the UK. I did go up and speak to Rui at Palmeira who was very helpful and although he doesn't take wild pigeons told me to take the bird to him and he'll have a look at its wing. I will also try the guy with the small holding at Monte Dourado - thanks Pete.

I'll update you all on my progress at a later date !!
