First day back at the office !!
Only my third trip to CVO but possibly the best. Stayed more in the town this year, previously stayed in ADM. The first week, 26.5.12 to 2.6.12 was pretty quiet but things definitely picked up the second week 2.6.12 to 9.6.12. These two weeks represent the traditional whit holidays and school half term in The UK. I thought the place was busy enough to create an atmosphere and when the free live music started in the square on Saturday 2.6.12 things "livened up". Having said that, me and my party did feel sorry for some bars & restaurants who just didn't seem to be getting any business. I won't embarrass them and name them here!! We ate at the following:-
As Marisquera - Always decent. Friendly service and if you get the right seat you can see your food being BBQ'd. Overall 8/10
A Rede - a revamped menu and really nice food. Packed when we went on 6.6.12. Perhaps a little pricey. 8/10
A Gale - Very slow service but always popular. Excellent food served in cramp conditions with tables too close together. 7/10
Villa Medici- Very nice. Whilst the prices seem decent the portions are pretty small on the pasta dishes. Very nice setting and fast, friendly service. 8/10
Oasis - For me, one of the best meat restaurants in CVO. Ate here twice and both times the food & service was very good. The second time we spent all evening sat there watching the free live music opposite with drinks flowing! 9/10
Ma Jas - if it is fabulous "home" cooking served in a lovely ambience then this is the place. Mark & Jan work hard to generate a lovely dining experience. 9/10
Martins Grill - this was for lunch but surpringly the best chicken piri piri I had while in CVO. 7/10
I am not trying to be a food critic, I am just passing on my comments for anyone that might be remotely interested.
The bottom line is that people must try and do their own thing. CVO is a beautiful place with lots to offer and long may my love affair with the place continue.
Great to meet Gary & Gaynor whilst there.
Finally, a huge thank you to Bob & Ida at Harry's Bar. They made us very wlecome at their Diamond Jubilee day on 3.6.12 and put on a great day's festivities. See you all soon
