Would it be functional art? Its purpose "may" be to support the boardwalk?

We wondered the same, when along there. We wondered if it was modern artwork designed to frame the view???

There are about 3 or 4 of these dotted around.....they look very similar to the gate post by the sliding barrier for the access road , half wondered if they had some spares so stuck them in the sand....they appear to have no obvious use.

when i walked there, it was a good optical distance-sign for the next branch leading from the main-board to the beach.
