Is there a different route to Carvoiero now (we went last year and followed the route given by this website)?

on the new motorway from faro you turn off at silves and take either lagoa norte or sul routes....both will take you to the old 125 and then on to carvoeiro....

Assuming it's on time (iffy lately 2hrs late Tuesday but normally within 30 mins or earlier) will see you in the arrivals hall. Did you hire via carject?

When you take a taxi or arrange transport to pick you up from the airport, you don't have to worry about the road changes - thoroughly recommended!!
Also for the early easyjet/go people you can have a little kip too! I think you're better off getting there early - dump your bags and get on that sunlounger and sleep!!
I just hate the hassle of picking up cars and driving them back again! My husband and I (just for Danny, Laranja!) are obviously just bone idle when on holiday!

We hired a car already with all inclusive (the one that pops up on carjet). Poor uncomplaining hubby has to drive, I just make a hash of the directions (a map in my hands is like a lethal weapon!).

Save time and 13 Kms
Stick to the old route that sends you off the motorway in Alcantarilha and follow the EN125 to Lagoa.

Re last posting. Has the traffic reduced on this stretch of the 125 ssince the motorway opened?

We took the new route last week. It's so much easier just to fly down the motorway to the next exit. Havn't got to bother sitting behind traffic down N125. I think signs for Carvoeiro were in brown so easy to spot.

To barpaul, I think it's worth taking the new exit just for the sake of it and seeing how it's works out. I must admit though that on the old route when you pass the International School, you know your "back to your rooots" and I would miss that! and I'm sure many others would agree with that. Will be trying the new route and see how it goes. It's interesting though that the advice seems to be the old one (Gambius) Roll on next Wednesday! via the new route but come June and September, back to the old!
