Colina Sol apart-hotel.....Refurb???

For the last 2 years, (at least), the Colina Sol above Centiannes Bay, has become progressively more and more derelict and run-down looking, to the point, I believe, where last year, the Camra withdrew its licence to trade.

Over the last 6 weeks or so , we have become aware of activity, around the hotel, and now it looks as if a major external renovation and painting, could be under weigh.

Does this mean that somebody has stepped in and bought the place, and is giving it a makeover??

It has always surprised me that this hotel, with probably the best outlook in the entire area, and overlooking one of the Algarve's best beaches, has been allowed to deteriorate so badly without some astute businessman grabbing a potential bargain.

I'm sure any improvement will be a great relief for people who actually own apartments, and timeshares at Colina Sol.

Bruce, I was on this beach on Wednesday and approaching it from the opposite cliffs noticed that it was 99% repainted, with the exception of one apartment which retained its original colour, so I am guessing that the owner refused to contribute to the re-decorate and refused painters permission to paint outside this apartment. for what its worth the paint on this apartment looked pretty fresh, overall the complex looks much better.

I can remember when they built this monstrosity, we couldn't believe they were allowed to put such an eyesore in such a prime location, we more or less stopped using Centiannes beach after it was built. I can't imagine what they could do to make it look any better externally but I would imagine from the inside looking out it could be lovely.

Why don't you put in an offer they can't refuse, Bruce?

Beauty is obviously in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I think it's a very attractive building.

Not attractive when no paint on it and looks derelict.

No idea this was an hotel, either now or in the past. quick glance through various property auctioneers show a few apartments for sale.

it used to be a hotel but as you say they are all apartments and they were let out as aparthotels
when we stayed there we booked through Hays Travel. it was just over three years ago the apartments are quite roomy
and though very clean they were tired looking then

Does anyone have any photographs of what it looks like now and what colour it's being painted?
