we only came back from a two week stay in Carvoeiro last week and i have to say it was the best holliday i ever had. during the day smilers bar is the spot for great snacks, good beer and very friendly and helpfull staff you will also find plenty of premiership football screened live always with a mixed crowd but great atmosphere, just ask for Geraldine she is fantastic and always has time for you. The best spot for me in the evening was the Jail House with live music, good jokes, trick questions with great prizes i.e madronia and two week stay in Iraq (excuse spelling) all ads up to a night to remember, Dave and Karen your hosts are two of the nicest people you will ever meet who also have beautifull one and two bed accomodation with pool at very reasonable rates, (pm me for contact number if required)

danny boy, glad you had a great holiday, but did you manage to get more than 100 metres from the town square by chance?

Carvoeiro is a lovely place to be, not because of the great beachs, great food, friendly people, nice weather .... but only beacuse a nice English bar.
Going to a place to visit an English bars is not a smart way to spend the time. What do you know from Carvoeiro to tell your friends when you are back in town.

You make a valid point petronio..but Danny Boy only spent 3 days in CVO..so it looks like he travelled around a bit in his 2 weeks and probably did see many things/places of interest...and not just an english bar ..and Im sure he appreciated all the things we all love about CVO :)
Are you local resident of Carvoeiro petronio?

Screwy lewy's was the only bar that appeared to be "trying" at Easter, probably not my cup of tea as a regular haunt but they had a singer on who did the usual guff and a nice bit of Fado. The kids loved it which was enough for me!

I believe Mr. Segars/Mr. Carvoeiro will be putting up a big screen in the square for the footy, will all the bars tills be running a little slower as a result? Is it with Camera approval/financial support ?hmmmmm....

hey folks nice to see finaly that your actualy talking about bars instead of slating me. The idea of this thread was so all you wonderfull people would post your own ideas and experiences on bars not to be missed so other members and guests get more of an idea of what might suit them, just because i recomended the two bars above it doesnt mean i spent my whole holls in them. Thanks for your support Ellie and yes i love everything about CVO and the algarve and cant wait for our next holls.

Poor Danny Boy!
Next time you're there I recommend Rascals - we've spent many happy hours there in the past as we often pop in there for a quick refresher (or two) on our way to town for dinner, and are looking forward to going again soon.
