Beginning of February, 3-30 in the afternoon, and there were over 30 cars queuing in both directions at the Lagoa crossroads.

Drove to the other side of Guia, and we were in a column of traffic, going at the average speed of the farmer on his 3 wheeled motor-trike truck, about 40kph.
Tailgated by macho Portuguese, who attempted suicidal overtaking manouveres in their desire to gain one more place in a queue that was not going very far!!

So this is the N125. Mid afternoon, in the middle of winter.......introduce several thousand tourists who arent used to driving on the right, not sure where they are going, and it will be such fun in the summer!!

What we need is a dual carriageway, designed to remove the traffic from an unsafe and congested road, and to clear traffic from the villages all along the N125.

Do you think anybody will come up with any ideas as to how you achieve that????

It is not just the Portuguese we had an idiotic UK reg very large expensive black merc try to park on our roof when we were last out.
Perhaps the Governments tactic is to do nothing so that many will get fed up with the queues and go back to the A22

on nearly every occasion we traveled over to Guia there was a GNR spot check on this roundabout. Never stopped - which was just as well as I honestly didn't know about carrying ID in the 'early' days and certainly not for all passengers until very recently.

Unless the costs become excessive we will keep using the 22 . it is quicker. less stressfull and safer than the 125.

Why endure slow traffic waiting for some prat ( of any nationality ) to drive into the back of you.

We may well use the A22 when we go to cvo but as long as there is all this confusion about paying, it will be the N125 again on the way back.

We drove to the airport on the 125 on Saturday afternoon on the way home (everybody go "arrh") and it took about an hour 10 mins. Traffic not too heavy. The A22 usually takes just under the hour, so not much difference there. Don't mind paying 5 euros for the A22 but too much hassle when going home.
