Whats it like to drive from Carvoeiro to Cascais (Lisbon ) on the IC1 to keep away from the tolls.
I'll be travelling on the 11th Feb and returning 6 days later to Faro airport.
Can anybody help.

hiya,
its really easy to a point.
Either go up to Silves - cross the bridge and turn right and wibble / wobble your way to the ic1 and follow the signs for Lisboa (less km)
or go up the n125 past the algarve shopping and follow the turn off ic1 Ourique / Lisboa (quicker)
Then its easy for 200km to Setubal
Then you have a choice - turn onto the N10 Pegoes / Villa Franca and basically stay on it for another hour (this takes you past Lisbon and you have to then double back and to be honest its a real pain and takes forever - it also depends which part of Lisbon (which side of the river you want to be)
Mostly i give up at Setubal and take the Toll road across the big bridge into Lisbon - i like to cross the bridges, for fantastic views, saves at least an hour.
Best of Luck
This is the Michelin route avoiding all tolls
