I know that's a long title, but don't know what to call it. I want to get pictures of our build and then have a slide show showing on the TV. I am used to my daughter preparing a slide show on the computer and then linking the computer to the TV and then showing it. We will not have a computer in CVO so cannot do it this way. Is there anyway we can save a slide show to a USB and plug it into the TV then hey presto  or would we have to burn to a disc and use a DVD player through the TV. HELP PLEASE

If you are intending to rent out your house in CVO, you probably need to consider installing Wi-Fi....

Probably burning your slide show onto DVD, is the simplest answer......but that means putting a DVD player in your villa.......

I dunno......just one expense after another.......
....when does it stop?????
....NEVER! :D

PS Bearing in mind the trials and tribulations of your build........will be be entertainment.....or a painful reminder 8)

Licy, we don't rent but after a few visits it was obvious that we wanted to see programs that were on when we were out in the evenings, ie other half - corrie or eastenders me - match of the day etc , so in all probability you will require a recorder of some sort. I purchased a fairly basic Samsung hdd recorder which records both onto the hdd or onto a disk, and also plays dvd's. It is small and light enough to carry in hand luggage and not problem to set up in Portugal. think I paid around €175 for it. The only drawback is that with only 1 signal ie sky you can only record 1 channel (unlike at home where you can record any number of channels off the aerial as well as off sky), you can then start moving dvds from home to the villa and watch them there. home from home.

If your TV can read a USB drive then it probably has a media player built in to the TV in which case you probably just need to save JPG photos to the USB drive and the media player would probably have a slide show feature built in.

Its a brand new Sony and I know there is provision for a USB, more than that I do not know. We only wanted the slide show when we had a builders type party so they could see it taking shape (as well as ourselves). Thanks. x :)

its easy in that case - just take the pictures and plug the camera into the TV with the usb cable. You can watch all of the pictures you have on the camera

They are on the computer currently, so will need to be downloaded.

Latest TVs with USB ports often have memory card slots also, so copying your computer's jpeg photos to one of these could be an option. As already stated, when you plug your SD memory card or USB memory stick into your telly a message window pops up recognising the device and by pressing 'enter' on your remote control you bring up a menu showing the contents of the device, with the option to play the photos one by one at the click of a navigation arrow button or you can select 'slideshow' for automatic playing of the pics. Just like on a computer really.

We have a Samsung TV in Portugal that plays video and stills via a USB port. Our Panasonic at home has an SD slot that does the same. If the Sony has any facility, I bet it is a Sony memory stick. Why not read the manual? :)

In our bedroom, we have an ALDI special that records to a USB stick as well.

Finally back so can check my posts. When I needed to show the slide show of the build the electric circuit for that room was not working. Unfortunately the electrician came to the builders party after most had left. We tried on the Sony. It recognized the USB but we could not get it to the showing the slides. However yesterday we put up the e-Motion bedroom TV and hey presto the cheap TV worked. By the way prices of TV's we saw in the local Jumbo (Lagoa) supermarket concession they had a special deal on these e-Motion TV's. 32" we paid here shy of £200 and they were €349 there with the 40" €389. (Sad to be home in the gales  )

Sonds like Licy's "e motion" model might just edge the "ALDI" in the bedroom. :D
