Need a bit of help here, what are the best numbers for cabs locally that do not have a "zero" in the number? Thanks :(

Cheers Graham, how would you dial that from Carvoeiro from a land line please? Thanks to guest who thinks he/she is being smart, but most apartment and villas have the 0 blanked out to stop european calls and from experiance have been some hefty bills. But thank you so much for the imput!

Mike, not sure that Guest was trying to be clever/smart. I think he/she
genuinely didn't understand about the '0', as I didn't either.
Maybe we are not all as clever as you.

Oh dear I didn't know so put the confusion sign, if that has been assumed as being smart I am totally confused now and won't ask any more questions except to Kteee or Ellie? :?

I didn't understand about the zero either and I don't think 'guest' was trying to be clever/smart. It's responses like yours that put me off being a regular contributer to this site. I look in every day (and have done for the last few years) but am put off joining in because some of the "regulars" seem to think they know it all and are the only one's entitled to an oppinion.
Before I end up insulting too many people - I think the site is great and there are alot of friendly, helpful people out there as well as the occaisional sarcastic ones!!

Yes Mike, take it easy - we aren't all as clever as you. I agree with the sentiments of Mansie. The site and forum are great, but I think it can do without the sarcastic replies to those genuine people who obviously want to get to know CVO and the area better and enjoy what it has to offer.

I think Mike may have mis interpreted a comment but so what-did he even say anything that abusive of offensive to the "guest".

This is self pitying b**lsh*t. I think if a few sarcastic remarks prevent you from putting across an opinion then it is a weakness on your behalf. These are just words, nothing more- the big bad "regulars" dont go knocking peoples doors down and looking for a fight. Also, I dont no of any regulars who think they are the only ones entitled to an opinion, that is totally untrue and extremley unfair to accuse mike of this, he is always onhand to offer advice or answer questions from people when they are asked and is an assest to this forum. All this whinging about a few comments, that i think were a genuine mistake, is pathetic.

Having said that- you are entitled to have that opinion no matter how false it is.

Matt, you really are a pratt - not withstanding the fact you are a scouser your english is at best deplorable, as you keep proving with your posts.

Newguest, I don't think that's really fair.
It's not just his atrocious use of English that makes Mattk a pratt

Mike - you pick up the phone and then press the number 9 followed by the number 1 then 7 etc until you have pressed all the numbers, then you wait for Carlos to answer .......... (sorry, couldn't resist a bit of sarcasm  )

If it doesn't work it may be that the villa owner is able to place a bar on calls to mobiles like you can from some phones in the UK

I was also a bit confused about wanting to avoid zero, but just assumed that you had a household like mine where it is possible for the kids to enjoy experimenting to see if the phone floats in the pool, and you had got it working again all bar the zero - just goes to show how little we all know sometimes.

Could be a tip for all restaurants here - if you want reservations from villa guests get a number without a zero!

Mike, when I first ready your query, I was going to make a similar "whats wrong with the zero"-comment - that houseowners want to prevent international calls by deactivating the zero never crossed my mind. Having visited hundreds of holiday homes myself, I never came across a deactivated zero. In properly managed villas, if there is a client phone available, it is metered.

Matt,
do you think you could express yourself with a little less swearing, please?
