I will be visiting the Algarve for the first time along with my wife and 12 yeay old daughter, staying in a villa at Carvoeiro (6 - 11 April). Can anyone give me any info on 'MUST SEE'or 'MUST DO' things in the area.
I will have a rented car so can travel.
My wife and daughter like horse riding so details of good stables would help.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Kim.

Big One in April? No sure a waterslide would be all that comfortable at this time of the year

Horse riding: there are stables near Lagoa just opposite international school.

Must see:
Monchique/Foia - the high ground of the Algarve
Sagres/West coast
Silves castle - I think you can combine this with a riverboat ride from Portimão up the Arade river to Silves.

Must eat:
Seafood in Marisqueira Rui in Silves
Chicken piri-piri (the best being the take-away just after the entrance to Carvoeiro)

Good reference points for "where I would not like to end up when I go on family holiday" - Albufeira, Quarteira or Praia da Rocha - great night life though 8)

Many thanks for the info, it is a great help to get some ideas from people who know the area.
We are looking forward to our visit, just hope the weather is good to us.
