Tomorrow is start of British summertime..moving clocks forward one hour...am I right in thinking that Portugal does the same..I can never remember?
Also Id like to know..at what time roughly..does it start to get dark in Algarve please?
Im starting to organise/plan my days from Tuesday week(arrival)..and want some idea of daylight hours.

Clocks go forward one hour tonight here in Algarve, same as UK.
At the moment it's getting dark around 7 pm, but of course after tonight it will be one hour on - 8pm

Haven't been successful in tracking down a mimosa tree yet, the ones I saw were a bit big and was advised to wait til later in season.......
but the orange and lemon trees are making lots of new growth and are looking good. Also got a gardenia that has come into flower this week.
As you can tell we're living the simple life here!!

All that..and a Gardenia too..wonderful ( when I see a gardenia,it always reminds me of one of my favourite singers 'Billie Holiday'..she always wore a white gardenia when she performed
I hope to have a look round at garden centres when I arrive (just over a week now!)..
Can I ask you a question please? Apart from the garden centre attached to the DIY store near to shoe world...are there any others in easy reach for me..Ill be using taxis ?

P.S.I thoughtI'd lost my Eucalyptus tree last Sunday..in the terrible gales we had. I looked out window..and it was laying across the back lawn(its about 16ft)..but when I examined it,I was happy to see the roots were still intact.We managed to push it back up and strapped it to the fence.
I was lucky..some of neighbours had bad damage!

The only garden centres I've visited here are behind Mestre Maco and the one just passed there on the N 125. The others I've seen on my travels and advertised in Portuguese magazines, are quite a bit out - but someone else might know of others in this area.
Glad your eucalyptus tree didn't do any damage and you were able to save it.
By the way, I like Billie Holiday too and you've just given me an idea for the gardenia..

d'you have to get up and go to work in the dark? In that case..you do have my sympathy.....I just wish theyd stop messing around with the clocks. Am I right in thinking youre in Canada? or have i got wrong fella?
Why dont they put the clocks forward and leave it that way. It all seems rather pointless to me. I absolutely dread October when clocks go back again..and we are shoved headlong into short dark days well before winter

I see that true to form, BST has heralded some rubbish weather in CVO over the next few days. According to www.weather.com, its given rain
until Thursday when its going to really brighten up and be warmer.
(good job I don't arrive till Wed), I'm obviously bringing the nice weather with me - anything to oblige

I Have been looking at the weather willing it to get better its been a bit dismal lately I hope your right about it improving Tricky, i will be out on Thursday and i am packing plenty of t.shirts & shorts so i am being optermistic , anyway whatever the weather i cant wait to get there and relax for 2 wonderful weeks.

Hi everyone, Hubby and I have just got back from cvo, went out Tues back on Fri last week, only a short trip to check on our house, and to cellebrate our 25th anniversary. We had a lovely time, good food and wine as always, and the weather stayed good for us, have heard that it is not so good now, but will be getting beter soon.
Wish all of you good trips to the area and a restful time, catch some rays and enjoy.
Back out in April for four days so hope the weather is good then too. Mind you I really don't mind what it is like, it is just being out there that makes it so special.

Absolutely right Lesley! It is the place & people that makes it so special to all of us....but some nice warm sun will make it even more so!

I can cope quite happliy going to work in darker conditions in the morning if it means that I get an extra hours light in the evening . Just think of all that extra time to use in the warmer months to come for B-B-Qs and drinks in the Garden
The sooner Portugal and UK convert to CET the better
