We need to buy wardrobes, sliding door version. We are being pushed to buy IKEA but not seen anything we like. I think the PAX type ia being suggested from IKEA. Has anyone looked a the difference of quality of Leroy Merlin sliding door wardrobes as against IKEA? Also does anyone know what the delivery charge from IKEA to here would be?

You have a much better choice at Leroy Merlin and easier to get any spare parts.

Yes I think your right. We would definitely pay less in IKEA however the issue or ordering and delivery could change that.

There is an IKEA in Seville.
Thought of that? There are people in Carvoeiro who will collect and deliver for you from Seville.
We are great fans of Leroy Merlin....as a brilliant B&Q with knobs on.....but not as a replacement for IKEA

Bruce do remember I'm a posh bird or so you thought once. Ha ha! Do you know what I am not going to be swayed by my friendly employee, or should I say who says we must obey him. Leroy Merlin it is. hen you here next? We will be booking 2 nights 7 September. LICY

Personally I don't think the quality in Leroy Merlin is a patch on IKEA, we seemed to spend half our life in Leroy at one time & I think a Portuguese B & Q is about right (though I'm not sure about the knobs). Most of the bathroom lights & fittings we bought from there are already looking really shabby. The door furniture, locks etc., our builders carpenter used from there aren't very good even though we paid extra supposedly for better fittings, the list goes on.
We drove to the Seville Ikea to get a kitchen table & chairs when we rented & it only took a couple of hours to get there. I've also ordered kitchen cupboards & things for our apartment in Carvoeiro in the UK & had them brought over by Direct Transport & I'm really pleased with them.

Our main problem is we don't like the style of doors we saw in our local IKEA in Surrey and pretty sure their PAX system is one we saw. looking on the web site the only ones we saw that were sliding doors were that system. I know it only takes a couple of hours to get to Seviile, but the next proble would be transporting the doors and carcases. No doubt we will revisit our local IKEA before.remake the final decision. What about somewhere like Wikes in the UK they have improved so much over the years & seem to be good value, though you would have to take into account the cost of having them shipped over. It's really difficult deciding on what you want & then trying to find out where the hell you can get it from.

Guys not sure if anyone will read this, but actually managed to find the IKEA sliding doors which we are happy to buy. We didn't see these before. Must have given up with traspsing around tbe store. Approximate price of a 2 and 3 m wide wardrobe with drawers at just over £1200 plus delivery. Just finding out how much it would cost to then send via Algarve removals as opposed to going to Seville. Watch this space.

Before driving to the Seville IKEA I had looked in the current UK catalogue & decided what I wanted, when we got to Seville the stock was very different from the UK catalogue & they didn't have the things we'd decided on so we then spent an extra hour or two there having to choose new items (brainache). So better for anyone to check on the Seville IKEA website to see if they carry the same items as the ones you want if you've chosen from the Brit' store.

Ikea offer a delivery service from their Portuguese stores using a courier. Probably worth checking that out as well. Details are on their web site.

have not found out how much the wardrobes are to ship out via Algarve Removals. They charge £85 per cubic sq m. I think it's likely to be about £100. I tried to navigate the Xeville website, but it drove me potty. I wanted to work out what the cost was there. I will try the Lisbon site to see if I have any luck there.
