Carvoeiro - you seductress!

Well, that's it for 2011. Just returned after two wonderful weeks in CVO and once again the charms of this wonderful resort have left me even more in love with the place. Our second year and I am already planning for 2012.
We tried new "things" this year :- Monchique, Lagos and a boat trip with Miguel out of Benagil to name but a few. Also ate at different places. Tried O Salmao (friendly but very slow service / decent food), A Rede (OVER friendly service from two guys, one claiming to be a David Copperfield lookalike and the other Michael Jackson - decent food if a little expensive). Plus usual haunts A Marisqueira (still one of the best for value for money) and A Gale (great food but tables TOO close together).
Lunches at Lamy 's at Benagil, O Stop at Centienes and in Monchique.
A special mention to Jaoa at Ponto De Encontro in ADM. His lunch time set menu at 7.50 euros is great value for money. Five of us had lunch with all having covers, main course, dessert, liquers and coffee plus lashings of wine and the bill was just 45 euros. We at here one evening as we stayed in ADM and this also represented great value for money. I appreciate you "pay for what you get" but the standard of food for the money was excellent and Jaoa is a great host.
I watched the Champions League Final at The Black Stove eventually after discussing on an earlier topic prior to travelling. I believe Gus is doing a great job and the atmosphere was good on the few occasions we drank there. I also would like to mention Harry's Bar. Always a warm welcome and great prices.
And finally, again further to an earlier topic. I did treat all my party to a spa day. We had a great time at Alba Suites Spa Centre in Albandiera and would like to thank Monica there for looking after us.
Thank you if you chose to read this. I might go quiet now - until I have booked for 2012 !!

Agreed Gaynor. Reading Lotte's topic "I Love CVO" it appears both Lotte and myself frequented the same bars pretty much over the same period of time. Makes you think, how many of us are on the same premises at the same time - I bet there can be quite a gathering of forum members (both tourists and ex pats) at any one time in a certain bar /restaurant.
I WILL be returning and if our dates "clash" again I will definitely meet up. Ida spoke very nicely of you and Gary and it would have been fun to have shared a beer or three. Take car

Hi Gary/Gaynor & Lamby,
Lamby is right, it does appear that we frequented the same bars & restaurants over the same period of time - if we had known, we could have discussed the finer points of English Football, whilst having a Superbock or two!!!!
We've never been in Harry's Bar - is it the one on the 'Out' road - further up than Hemmingways? Whenever we drive past, it always looks like a nice cosy bar, but always appears to be fairly quiet?
This time last week, we were on our way for a morning on the beach, now i'm sat a bloomin desk, with only my ham & cheese sandwich to look forward to!!!! - Oh deep joy!!!!!

Ha ha - They say never look back, but how can you not?!? This time last week we were at Caldas De Monchique. We stopped off on the way upto the Foia at the top via Monchique. Now I am also sat at a desk with a tuna mayonaisse butty to look forward to.
Yes - Harry's Bar IS on the left on the "Out" Road. Very friendly and great prices. My impression is that they do decent business with the ex pats in CVO. I went there to "look up" and old friend of mine who now lives in CVO.
Agreed - no football is awful. Just the transfer news to get excited about. Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David De Gea all possibly heading to Old Trafford

Lamby,
Phil Jones - not heard that one?
What about Modric, Nasri, Reina, Sanchez - Any thoughts on them?
On a more disturbing note, I've heard a rumour that Nani will be out of there soon - Real Madrid being mentioned - do you know anything about that one?
Talking about football (& not wanting to name drop!!!) - we were at the Faro Airport a few years ago, and bumped into (literally!!) a certain Mr Steve Bruce - he wasnt as big then!!!!! - so you never know, you may pop into a Smilers or Bradys etc & find yourself sat next to Giggsy or Wazza or Rio!!!!!!!
