i think it must help being of italian background as one southern european country seems to be like another....in so far that the mental ability to cope with all the portuguse officialdom nonsense.....like the mona lisa though i think a bit more homework could have been done on the licences and really they bit off more than they could chew (excuse the pun) by trying to cater for such a large number on their first night

I saw it too! My conclusion is: They were not prepaired properly! They did't take enough time to get things sorted out! Why take such a big party at your first night? They just jumped in a very deep swimming pool, without knowing how to swim!
I wish them all the best with building up their business, maybe I'm going to take a look next time I'm in CVO again.
(PS In my eyes this is not the way how to start a business!)

Why was the woman doing all the work?
The man just went around opening bottles of wine for party of Welsh? golfers who never stopped b----y singing!

(sorry Croeso..no offence

)
Hey...what about the cousin who arrived to help ( I only saw him chop carrots!)..For a moment ..I thought dear old Peter Sellers had come back!..wasn't he a spit.image?..especially in that little hat..I thought..blimey..its Inspector Clouseau!
But I do wish them well in Loule...if anyone deserves it..that woman certainly does.and she speaks fluent Portuguese..wonderful asset!
Boa sorte/Good luck to them!

My sentiments exactly Michael(Crane not Correlone)...
I was furious at the way the woman seemed to be left to do the whole lot/cooking....and with an inferior oven to boot!
Her husband just seemed to wander in and out while she was left to handle..what was it..3 course dinner for 36?Mind you ..that attitude will probably go down well in Algarve....male chavinism reigns supreme still..I think.
But I particularly wish that lady good luck..she has brains as well as ..stamina! Shes certainly going to need it

I enjoyed the programme - watched a recording after seeing Porto knock my team out of Europe (never mind). I agree with previous comments - lack of planning e.g. still looking for basic essentials just before they were due to open & failing to test the oven(s). The lady worked her butt off & must have been close to tears on opening night. She certainly deserves to succeed but if she doesn't get more 'hands on' help she won't live long enought to enjoy it!
The Welsh golfers in my book were brilliant (perhaps I'm biased) - I don't think many of us would have been as understanding & tolerant as they were, they just kept on singing through the crisis. I know the night cost them peanuts, but I think I would have much preferred a promptly served decent meal.

Yes ..I do admit..that party of golfers were extremely patient..i certainly couldnt have waited 2 hours for grub!
I was only joking about the singing....you cant beat the wonderful sound of a Male Voice Welsh choir!

have I put that the right way round?

This comment won't go too well in the valleys . . .
but, if I were stuck in that restaurant with that lot singing all the time, I'd have to shoot them ---- or myself!

I'm with Michael on that one.
I don't know what the deal was with the golfers - were they friends or something?- anyway I thought they were awful. I thought the english abroad were bad enough! yuck yuck yuck. (hmmm well maybe a group of 30 english football supporters might have been a touch worse! - they would have rounded the evening off with a nice punch up and a load of rascist abuse perhaps)
Anyway it was the most nerve wracking viewing of the year so far. I was in a complete state by the time the starters were an hour late.
Peter Sellers EXACTLY ellie!

What a hoot that was!

At least they managed to find the toilet unlike the welsh golfers on the easyJet flight from Bristol to Faro last week

a complete state of what 'Biffas 2nd darling' ?
Im glad you agreed about the 'Peter Sellers' lookalike.....hilarious....I thought for a minute Id tuned into a 'Pink Panther' movie!
and as he started to chop the carrots...with that maniacal look..I was in stitches
Then the poor woman's burnt lasagne..my heart went out to her and I felt like hitting her husband over the head with his own Chianti
But ..am I being paid back for my harsh words on the Welsh golfers
Guess what ? My oven blew up last night..really! Thermostats gone caput..must be a gremlin in the works...a Welsh one?

Ellie - the correct terminology is 'Welsh Male Voice Choir'!
Dreadful news from Madrid today - puts the trivia subjects on web-sites such as this into perspective.
