I am sorry to see that the New Sports Bar at MC has closed already. Obviously well supported by the members of this forum who think that all the bars and restaurants in the area are making a fortune.Maybe it was because of the plastic chairs that there is so much winjing about.

It is sad to see it go. we have used it. I think that the main problem was that the cocktail garden does a better job of attracting and keeping passing trade.
We do not like the loud music etc and will go elsewhere but if you are on hoilday and see two bars one busy and one empty which one do you think they will chose.

I think you'll find that the owners wife wanted to return to her home in Guernsey.

It's a ghost town up there in the winter, you'd have to take an awful lot of money in the season to survive if it's your only source of income. We used it in preference to the cocktail bar but every time we went we were the only people there.

I never thought it looked particularly welcoming. The owner and a member of staff used to stand at the front looking grumpy (I am sure they wernt, but it put me off)
The reason the cocktail garden is so popular is the friendly service from Luis and Catya.
When we were there in summer the sports bar used to shut on saturdays and wednesdays which seemed a bit odd for a new enterprise.
A word about the loud music from the coctail garden, we have been lots of times and never noticed it,
granted its loud on sundays when its kareoke (!) but that must be down to the beautiful

singing of the customers.

The noise from the cocktail garden can be a bit overwhelming, we were sat just outside the jazzbar and could not hear the singer performig inside.
We had dinner a few weeks ago in Salmao and had to speak up to make our selves heard. How those dining in Elliots must have been even more affected.
Certainly the family who run Salmao were not happy with the noise.

Shame about Monte CVO, and its continued demise.
We haven't spent an evening at any of the restaurants or The Cocktail Garden in the last 2 visits now - Sept 09 and 10. - even though we stay in Monte Paraiso. We found the place too quiet in terms of atmos - but we do like the company of Luis. Always used to use CG and one of the restaurants every couple of nights on each annual visit, for the first 7 years or so of our visits to CVO. Saw it as a good chill out place to break up the evenings going to the village.
It's just lost some of its appeal for us over last couple of years. That, together with the loss of AliSuper supermarket, means we rely more and more on the village each day.
