Villas on Golf Courses

Hi All
We have visited Sesmarias area 3 or 4 times over the last few years and love the area.
We are hoping to visit in 2011 and are considering staying on a GOlf course in the area.
But.....
We stayed on San Roque Golf Course in Spain this year and were bothered by the flies which I'm
told is because of the fertilizer used on the golf courses. Our villa was on directly overlooking the tee and fairway.
Can any of the wise folk on here who have stayed on golf courses in Portugal advise if they
encountered the same issues
Ta
Snaj

Hi Snaj

We have an appartment next to the 18th fairway at Gramacho and in the last 7 years have never had a problem with flies, either in the appartment or around the pool. Nor have I heard comments from our neighbours. I cannot say that I have seen fertilizer being applied anywhere near the appartment; probably it is only used on the greens and tees.

Hope this helps

Dave

I also suspect it depends on what type of "fertilizer" they are using.

Hi Dave - we are quite close to you but nearer the course (overlooking the 18th Green) and can agree that flies are not a problem we have encountered

Thanks for the info all.
We were annoyed by the flies and wanted to check before we considered booking.
Right,
Whos got a 4 bedroomed house on a golf course, aircon, private pool and no flies available for rent?

'fertiliser' or 'fertilizer' optional

Not mine but try this one - positioned at the end of the second fairway I think

(Sorry mods - is it advertising if it isn't mine?)

My comment on "fertilizer" was not about the spelling but about the content - i.e. whether it was animal, chemical or man made - it does make a difference you know!

@FMM. What about golfing ability? Mine definitely qualifies as fertilizer!
