Saw a new sight last night cars clamped by the GNR, this was on the road up to Monte Dourado.
Apparently in addition to tickets the GNR are clamping and towing away illegally parked cars.
Be warned !!

easy money from persons parking where they shouldn't. Dont have a problem with it in UK or anywhere else....as long as there are clear markings.

I don't have too many problems with the introduction of clamping as long as they are pragmatic, use some common sense and not clamp everything in sight. What we really don't want to see is the deployment of Gatsos cameras up restaurant hill or to be honest anywhere within 1000 km of Carvoeiro!! I also hope that they manage to clamp a few of the burglars 'wheel men ' cars on their rounds . Now wouldn't that be a good use of clamps ?

I don't have a problem with the cops clamping unlawfully parked cars.
It's the freelance shysters that are the problem here in the UK. If that takes off in CVO it'll be chaos.

We went up to ALgar Seco lat night to look at the sun set and there were loads of empty spaces from the church upwards .
Yet in town cars were parked in front of the CVO sol and in the spaces reserved for the disabled ( no stickers ).
Those who do get ticketed , towed or clamped really have little to complain about.
Also discovered Charleys Bar, nice place to watch the sun set over the village. Had a look at Onze, interesting menu will give it a try on next visit.

I wish thye would start clamping the idiots whp park on 2 spaces up restaurant hill - the number of times there are cars angled across 2 spaces is ridiculous - I asked one man - english, SUV - why he had parked over two spaces - his reply was "didnt know there were markings and anyway my car needs two spaces!!
My reply regarding his intellect, genetic make up and parentage is unprintable.

But he does have a big car Maccasa and the spaces are very tight indeed,if theres a space make it your place,i cant believe there were two spaces together in the first place.

To be honest I think is a bloody good idea. We have an apartment at the top of Carvoeiro Terrace and to trying to get our car around there sometimes is a nightmare also my mum and dad, who are elderly, they get nervous about that, have to walk on the road because of cars on the pavement. They park up at the top to just before the turning down to our garage, a nightmare...so money making or not good on the GNR!

Cars bring in money. The lesser the cars the lesser the money. It is simple economics. It will drive tourists and business away.
If some cars are causing a severe inconvenience then they should be clamped.
However, if this scheme brings in money then the goal of money will result in a zealous adherence to clamping everything in sight. I have seen it right across London.

Try owning a place where we do in CVO so no, I don't buy cars bring in money and it's dangerous parking on a bend, which they do . Mum was just missed by a car trying to manouvre around parked cars on the bend, bloody dangerous if you ask me and totally selfish.
