Hi everyone!
We are near the end of a long and fairly drawn out house purchase however there is a light just about visible at the end of the tunnel! Our thoughts are now turning to the nicer jobs like buying bits for the new place and settling in.
Can you recommend a local stockist for internal & external doors.
Can anyone recommend someone to fit satellite TV set up with the standard UK channels. Any idea how much / month this will cost or is there a way of doing it for free?
Can anyone recommend where we can go to buy furniture, preferably where we can collect and take home on the day, or failing this a place where they will deliver while we are still in the country.
Thanks in advance

I suggest you have a look through the Property Owners sub-set of the Forum as most of the points you are interested in have already been covered there.

Hi Mintyspud,
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the near completion of your house purchase.
Farol is correct in the fact that you will probably find the answers to your questions in the Property Owners forum, but to give you a head start - here are our suggestions.
Internal & external doors - try Leroy Merlins at Guia or Maxmat also at Guia or in Portimao.
For someone to fit statellite TV we recommend Geoff - his number is 966 960 837. He provided us with a dish and a freeview box, which includes all the normal English channels and then you don't have anything to pay on a monthly basis. The costs vary, dependant on the size of dish and what type of freeview box you have. He is English and very helpful.
Furniture - you have a choice really - none of which I doubt you will be able to collect and take home on the day. Moviflor and Conforma are the main ones or Ikea in Seville (where you can bring home somethings on the day!). You could also look at buying in the UK and shipping it out as sometimes this works out cheaper than buying it here.
Hope the above is of some help to you

I am very sorry to hear about the purchase of your property being a long drawn out affair!
I do hope this is not everybody's experience in buying a house in Portugal. I know, that compared to Spain, the regulations are much more tighter which prevents shady land purchases that happened in Spain.
I hope all goes well and that you can finally enjoy your property,

1) Satellite TV - freesat using a skybox or freesat box - RJTechnica do a 1.4 m dish + box + all fitting etc for €415. Good job and good service - they are half way up the hill rue Farol on RHS - underneath the Santander bank!
2) for Furniture - depends how much you need - we found it was much, much cheaper and with a wider selection to buy in UK and ship out by someone like Algarve removals
3) doors, yep, Leroy and maxmat are good, but you should also check Vial Carpentaria on the N125 just before Alcantarilha
www.vialcapentaria.pt (i think)
