Has anybody had any experience of constant noise from dogs barking and if so who do you need to talk to? The dogs are strays with no collar's. We arn't heartless but we are going MAD!!!! :|

chicken cackle (chicken piri-piri doesn't anymore);
roosters crow;
cats miaow;
horses neigh (except Mr.Ed; he talks);
sheep bleat;
and goats too;
frogs croak;
elephants (and maybe also Belinfante's) trumpet,

"cowboys" yell: RAWHIDE!
look at: http://www.1mu.net/cinema/rawhide.htm and you can hear it!

(PS prescription against barking dogs:
Drink a whole bottle of TullamoreDew or BrandyMel before you go to your bed, and you won't hear a barking dog until the next morning!)

Usually we poison them here in the Algarve....Unfortunately it's a slow death but it does allow us to sleep at night.....Or we allow them to come near our chickens and then we can shoot them...

I'm afraid these are the only dead certain solutions.

Seriously though how about the local Camra?

Unfortunately I have little or no faith in the local Camara....I have spent three years trying to get various things done...I have been nice...I have been nasty..I have bribed large amounts of money..I have tried to do things as a gentleman would expect....all to no avail..... at some point ,and I'm at that point one just gets up and rides outa town....If one can come to this beautiful country and get a nice little pad and do nothing..it's great....but don't try to build...don't bring a car in...don't complain about Barking dogs or real dangerous roads breaking up outside your house...don't expect any logic out of the average person here....it aint there....I vever complain anymore.....I have just purchased a lovely little house in Sarlat (France)....bliss.....peace (French ..I luv em)...Logic once again.......Sorry it has to be the shotgun.... :twisted:

Peter! d'you mean that 'guest would receive a warmer welcome on Mars :)
No..Im sure he/she ..got a genuine 'bienvenue' from our fellow euros across the channel :?
But hope he/shes French is ok..as I doubt he/she will find as many speaking the old 'Anglaise' as they do in Algarve!
I dont believe Luise is as cruel as he seems.. surely hes joking with the poisoning/shooting thing isnt he :?:
Im reminded of the time we were driven bonkers by barking dogs at night in Lagoa. But these were owned by neighbours and the 3 animals were kept on the roof garden and they would start as soon as we went to bed.
One night ..it allgot too much for me!
I leaned out of bedroom window..shouting cant you keep those b----y dogs quiet..some of us are trying to sleep!!
The next day..the dogs had disappeared..never to be seen or heard again...and although we had peaceful nights afterwards..Ive had a conscience about it ever since..what happened to them :?: :evil:..Ellie

there was somebody on here last week encouraging people to adopt these dogs and take them back to the UK; could be the answer

Funny but where I live in Carvoeiro we never here any dogs at all. Do you think this is just in certain areas? Course if one starts then others will follow. You gotta find the ringleader and sort him/her out.

Aren't there any dogs in France or are they well behaved?

gawd..hes back :twisted:
Where you been Larry..in hibernation?
back to dogs!
A little bitch kept us awake every night for the first 2 weeks of Sept.Hols...she seemed to start soon as we went to bed.
She was outside one morning..sniffing round the bins..I watched ..then followed her to the little wilderness opposite. She disappeared into some brush..and I heard the whimper of puppies.
Youd have to have heart of stone..not to feel for the poor creatures.
No poison please or guns..if people can adopt them..so much the better..if not..let thembe put down humanely by skilled vets.
By way Biffa..this was just past Primaveira Rest...and the row of shops opposite.
