Hi all,

I work for a real estate agent in Carvoeiro and was wondering if anyone in business or not would like to get in touch to start a breakfast or lunch networking event\meetings, maybe once a week for an hour or so? Unless there is already one set up and I can attend.

Just a thought.

Good luck, personally, I think its a good idea for networking.
Even as a holiday maker, we would be interested in such a meeting. For us it would be a useful tool in coming out to live and work.
a) finding a suitable place to stay for longer term rental prior to purchasing somewhere.
b) finding employment, i.e book keeping.
c) finding out about what businesses are present, taxes, types of employment, how to set up a business etc.
d) rules and regulations etc.
The list can go on and on.
This sort of tool exists in Spain and therefore why not in Portugal. Good on you for suggesting it.

I can arrange a suitable location once I have say, a minimum of 10 people then work from there. I am sure the meetings will grow due to networking. It is always good to network!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

baggysallyjane, AFPOP is the organisation in Portugal that helps foreign residents and visitors with any enquiry or gain information they may need (http://www.afpop.com/) - they organise the Blip exhibition. Also Network is the women's networking association in the Algarve, I don't know about any others though.

I just like the idea of an informal meet with like minded people over food,and drink and chat and gain useful ideas and experiences. These are great venues for those that have been in situations that have been problematic and can throw a light of what pitfalls to avoid, be it in a work environment or for those considering moving/ purchasing or rental of properties.

Exactly baggysallyjane, hence putting this request on here. I will arrange a local venue and lets get this off the ground. Once I have at least 10 people like I said, then I will inform you all of the date, time and place. So lets network, be great for business and to meet like minded people.

And it cost´s nothing...apart from a morning coffee.......

A good idea. There are already Freemasons and Rotarians but these operate in a rather formal format.
One thing that surprises me is how few forumers include their occupation and interests in their profiles - surely this is the first step in networking.
Having been, in my previous life , a chairman and director of City and County Chambers of Commerce and Industry and director of BusinessLink, the importance of personal contact cannot be overstressed.

So baggysallyanne and roy4eyes can I include you for the first network breakfast meeting?

Yes you can count both Richard and myself for when we next come to CVO.Hopefully in November.

Morning coffee - or,even better, an after work drink would be more my style

Hiya, the British & Portuguese Chamber of Commerce hold regular breakfast and early evening network meetings, which are usually held at members or prospective members business premises. They are usually very well attended and popular. Also, Network which is aimed at ladies in business on the Algarve. Networking is a great way of meeting people whether for business or pleasure and is really useful here on the Algarve. There is also a new social network site called www.myclubalgarve.com. Theres always room for networking, the more the merrier, let us know when you are holding your first one and I would love to attend - if working hours allow!!!

My husband is a Rotarian and would like to attend their meetings. Where do they meet near Carvoeiro?
