A few observations and a question!

Hi
Returned from Carvoeiro yesterday, another fantastic time.
A few observations:
- Town was so so quiet. One business owner suggested some takings are 25-30% of previous years. Its still term time though, the test will come in the hols
- A couple of lovely meals out, laterna velha as delicious as always. Ma-ja's similarly as delicious as all previous visits!
- I think the square looks lovely, no idea what their final traffic plan is - looks a bit of a hybrid! We flew home on the day of the "opening ceremony" but we return in sept and will get to see the developments then
- Had some warnings in advance that prices were steeper than "normal"- things seemed as last year to be honest, a few things a bit cheaper and with the pound/euro probably equated to the same. The airport is still the total rip off - a lady in front of me paid 24.20EURO for 2 cheeseburger, small fries and small coke!
- Flew with easyjet, first time used them to faro (liverpool -> faro), absolutely superb both ways, exactly on time, plenty of leg room, good service, and less than 15mins at each end from touching down, collecting luggage and leaving airport
- First time ever we got a minibus from airport instead of hire car, worked out superb, very professional
A question - we stayed at laranja do sul (up from empty post office) builders knocking about all week then diggers moved in our last day. What are they doing behind laranja do sul? So much room - the villaplus lady told us a villa was being built for a famous footballer! But the space is so big I assume its an apartment block? Does anyone know?

I understood it was a development of villas being built behind Laranja do Sul, backed by a footballer (although I don't know which one)

Hi Anne
We stayed there September 07 for a family celebration for my Dad's 65th, and returned last week for my mum's 60th! Both times there were 13 of us, this time the kids ages being 11,9,4,3&3 (last time 9,7,3,2,1). The downstairs has a nice large lounge/dining area - though we have never eaten there! The kitchen was a bit scruffy last time but has been replaced with a brand new kitchen and huge oven! There are 2 decent sized twins and a large double, and a bathroom+loo, shower room+loo, shower room & separate loo on the same floor. Upstairs is only accessible by outdoor staircase, and has it's own entrance. There are two twins immediately upstairs with large balconies, and small loos out on the balcony(in a little area obviously not just on the balcony!). A further 3 twins I think (1 en suite) and another large double, plus big bathroom! Lots and lots of space, fantastic location. When we were going back as a large party for mums birthday immediately booked laranja again. The pool area is fantastic, really big and an outside bar area. The tennis court is great for the kids to run off steam too. The reason we didn't use the dining area was the large covered outdoor table we would eat at most evenings, on a couple of instances making use of the big bbq. Loads of room for cars too....
The outdoor steps do make it strategic for us in terms of where people sleep, we wouldnt put a small child to bed upstairs then lock them in, the door is not visible from the downstairs area, therefore any little ones who may be going to bed are housed downstairs where the doors etc can be seen
Fab villa, Fab location, amazing pool........my 3yr old wants to know if you find a red lego square please let me know! Enjoy, I hope you have a fantastic time. If you have any other questions feel free to ask

We were told an Irish man had bought the plot and was building 5 Villas on it, think we will all have to wait and see good spot though

Does this mean that the noise and dust from building will be going on throughout the summer ?

I would think so. Earlier in the week they were pouring concrete in, our last day diggers at back of villa, clearing it all down. Would have thought its gonna get dusty

thanks for the reply holiday1. we have passed this villa many times and always thought it as apartments, then found it one day when looking for villas. it sounds great, do you go through a bedroom upstairs to get to the stairs. we will have a hunt for a red lego piece and will let you know if we find it. thanks again. anne.

No Anne, it's an outside staircase. The front of the villa, where the pool is, has a patio door and a "normal" door, and there is a back door (v handy for laundry). You go to the right of the house, round the corner, and the upstairs is accessed via steps leading to the road, effectively at the side of the villa. There is no indoor staircase

hi, sorry to sound stupid, i get that you access from out side staircase but does that lead you through a bedroom upstairs or to a hall. a bit confussed when i look at layout of villa as it looks like you go up staircace and into a bedroom and you dont want everyone going through your room to get to theres. hope this makes more sense.

Oh sorry Anne! It leads to a hallway upstairs, with all bedrooms & a bathroom off the corridor. Before we went for the first time we thought the stairs led to the far bedroom and then everyone had to traipse through, but they dont. the stairs lead to an upstairs hall area, and all rooms are off it. Hope that helps
