We were in town on tues night, Anwhere showing the football had a few, Ela and Ela reasonably busy but no problems getting a table.
Mungo, had two customers when we went in a few more when we left after 40mins.
Yes it is quiet.
Yet Albufeira on Sunday was positively humming, you woud not have known there was a recession on.
CVO does not seem to attract the short stay 3-4 night holiday makers.

I think a lot of people might complain about the £/€, but when it comes to their holiday, they will go anyway, and perhaps just cut back on a few other things. I hope the town's businesses are not affected too much, though if Carvoeiro does see anything like a 30% reduction through the season, it might not look too good for some. There are a lot of restaurants / bars in town. Looking forward to spending some money in Carvoeiro soon though!

Happy to join your PMA club Robbie. The stock market on both sides of the pond has seen an improvement this week, and we are talking of a bull market. If we believe that the recession has bottomed out, then it will. So long as you still have a job, why not spend normally? As for the exchange rate, we still found it cost us less to live in Portugal than UK over winter.
As for the square, I share your fears. Just hope it looks better in real life than it does on the web-cam. You see, that's PMA.

I was in cvo last week for a few days and found it quiet but then haven't been out in out early May before - even the airport seemed quiet but bliss not having to queue to pick up the car. I was surprised by the number of vacant shops. Seemed that a number of places were carrying out work before the season kicks off.

It may be quiet but whgen places are not open for the business that is there then they can only blame themselves.
At around 11.30.-11.45 this morning we tried two that are usually open at this time bothe were closed,
Both had owners or staff inside but could not be botherered.
We were not alone.
Any business owner run has no real excuse for this if you are not open then you cannot make any money.
One was UK owned.
