I,ve just seen a photo of the square on the webcam and it looks like there's been some sort of natural disaster. Now I'm in Carvoeiro for the middle 2 weeks of September. Can anyone tell me if this will be rectified by then, because if it isn't then I've done my money basically.

I am sure that it will all be worth it, that the centre will no longer be car park, that cars at night will have very much reduced access and that Carvoeiro will become a much better place to visit.
These schemes have worked elswhere in the Algarve its a shame it has taken so long in Carvoeiro.

Why start another 'square' topic? Surely this question can be/has been asked (and answered) in the other 'square' topic?

Comment in this weeks " Rodent " , more road works planned on the roads into CVO, trees have been cut down in preparation for a road widening scheme.
This to start in April.
see www.algarveresident.com
This morning saw a tourist attemt to drive into the sqare obviously still thought it a carpark much to the amusement of onlookers and frustration of other motorists as he reversed out of the roadworks.

Maybe he has not been to Carvoeiro since our carparks were dirt tracks.

It is signposted.....you come IN up the now 2 way OUT road. You can take that left up the hill, just before the square and follow it round to the market.

That's anybodies guess....nobody I spoke to in Carvoeiro last week had a clue. The cynics reckon that the camra has stalled things until it gets some money into the budget.
Having said that...there was absolutely no signs of life all last week, but then the workmen turned up in the square on Monday.
As regards access to Monte Carvoeiro, Richard. You can get across the back of the square and up the road past Tia Ilda up to Monte Carvoeiro, but most people seem to be using the road up by Solferias, or even going via the Sesmarias Road from down by the Lagoa crossroads.

Had a chat with the president of the Junta on Friday and he is very happy with the progress so far. He said the builders are on schedule which means the square will be finished well before the deadline at the end of March.
All construction work on this phase of the project (in-road and out-road revamp) is scheduled to be concluded by June 6th.
Once the works are finished the road orientation will go back to it's original state in the centre - only the casino road past the post office will be inverted to allow traffic up and the Paraiso road will be one-way down on to the square.

G. are you sure that Paraiso is going to be reversed? From the way they are changing it's connection with the square, traffic coming down will meet the traffic on the in road.! Unless of course in becomes out? And I still don't understand how it will work if traffic has to cross the square from the in and out roads, since at the moment it looks like a footpath runs from the square to connect with the one on the in road, and any traffic would have to cross the footpath.

Just a quick Thank You to all, and especially Barry P, for the updates and the photographs of the construction works in the Square. It's great to be able to see what's happening when we can't be there, much appreciated.
