im a newbie to the fourm but not to carveiro been going for years. just thought id try you guys to see if you could give me some information about where to stay. i have tried so many different places and although carvoeiro did not dissapoint the position of the villas did. looking for something close to monte carvoeiro for my 79 year old mother who has problems walking and two young kids who are just heart lazy. i did already ask this question but got no answer im feeling a bit lonley here. help please

AH - have you actually stayed in Monte Carvoeiro itself? The 2 bed places sleep 6 (although I suspect your 2 kids will need to sleep on the sofa beds - comfy apparently - my kids used to sleep on them up to the ages of 18).

The 2 main bedrooms are normally large and self-contained and 2 bathrooms as well. Apart from that, most of the villas seem quite large around there (e-richard will know more about this) but check out the MC website.

Why stay in Monte Carvoeiro up up up that hill.
What about somewhere closer to town, near Monte Dourado, Rua do Cerro or some parts of ADM or those general areas

Dont you know that those of us in the east refer to Monte Carvoeiro as Surbiton on the Hill.
A long walk up the hill to somewhere nowhere near the sea

Have you looked in the holiday rental section, I'm surprised you haven't received any pm's, perhaps if you supplied dates & type of accomodation you'd get more response.
At least once you're in Monte Carvoeiro it's all on the flat more or less & is self-contained as far as restaurants & bars are concerned though there are steps up & down to a lot of the restaurants & it can be lacking in atmosphere. Cabs are cheap enough though so you can nip in & out of town easily if your Gran fancies going further afield. You'll just have to tell your kids to get off their lazy derriere's & hike up & down that hill, it'll be good for them. .

im sorry didnt explain myself to well last post must have been the wine or two last night. we have done villa nova quinta da parasio excuse the spelling, also done a villa up cardiac hill. i have tried apartments but we got broken into while sleeping that kind of put me off them. im thinking of monte carvoeiro for us because it would mean we could all walk there for a bite to eat and then when mum and kids tierd could head back to villa then me and my hubby head out to the town. dates wise thinking last week in may first week in june. sorry if i was a bit unclear.

Think that MC is a good choice, since it is pretty well self contained, with pools and a good selection of restaurants. Problem is that to stay on site you are limited to 2 bed accommodation. We have stayed in the townhouses, and found them fine. Are stairs a problem?

yes stairs are a bit of a problem for my mum. thats the reason we always use villas that are on the one level. its a nightmare to find a villa that suits us all we struggle every year to find a villa on one level on flat ground with pool for kids within walking distance for mum and within staggering distance for me and hubby, and also within our budget. sounds easy eh. thanks everyone who has replied to this nightmare task.

opps i was having a blonde moment when i posted today i ment to say i was trying to go last week in june first week in july not last week in may first week in june. and that was with no wine talking,of wine i can hear my bottle calling open me. time to drink and dream of lying by the pool in the sun.

What about Vila Nova?

done that loved it but the villa we stayed in was sold and then went to book this year and the price had jumped by 500 pounds no can do if we want to go two weeks and later in the year. love the villa but cant do the price theres a credit crunch going on and its not good.
