I don't understand why they are digging the square up to padestrianise it when it is already that way.

Hopefully they will be bringing it into the 21st Century - it has become a little tired. A spruce up should be most welcome and encourage even greater opporunities to stop, linger and chat rather than fight the traffic. The web cams are great.
