Hi being a veggie shouldn't present too much of a problem, I expect some veggies will answer your post, for information though do you eat fish?

Faro to Carvoeiro takes about 45 mins but if you are on a transfer coach with drop offs on route then it will certainly take longer.

My wife is a strict veggie (no fish even) and 5 years ago it was very hard to get a decent meal (unless you call salad or plate of plain boiled veg a meal).

Today, I'd say that well over half the restaurants have a veggie option on the menu, and many others will create something for you if you ask. The standard improves year on year in terms of creativity.

A partial (and somewhat arbitrary) list of those that we return to includes:

- Chef Antonio in CVO
- Le Bistroquet also in CVO
- O Salmao (in Monte Carvoeiro)
Then, if you have a car or taxi, highly recommended (for veg) are:
- Bernhards in Ferragudo
- The Village Inn, Mexilhoeira da Larregacao (see freemap for directions)
- L'Orange
- Bon Bon

And there are many others, but if you eat fish, you're in paradise.

We used to have a list of restaurants to avoid if you're veggie, but that gets cut down each year, and I'd be wrong to post the names here as many of them are recognising the growth in demand - albeit mostly from Northeren European visitors.

Ah a vegi. Let’s swap vegiburger recipes

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 large shallot – finely chopped
1 large carrot – grated
1 med. courgette – grated
2 slices of bread - crumbed
1 egg yolk
1 desert spoon peanut butter
salt, pepper,

lightly fry onion in large frying pan, add veg. After 5 mins add rest of ingredients stir well then remove from heat. Make little cakes and gently shallow fry. Serve with cranberry sauce (optional) Ummm delicioso

All staff bar some of the maids speak English and very well they speak it as well. You must try some Portuguese though. Make sure you have a sea facing room and watchout for the seagulls that will make you a friend for life if you feed them! Have a great time

Funny how it is different for everyone - coming from Devon the very thought of feeding a seagull is actually abhorrent - strange isn't it?
