Gas and diesel fuel prices?

Can anyone tell me what gasoline and diesel fuel sells for in the Algarve now? Especially around Lagoa and Portimao. As the price of crude oil has dropped tremendously, I would assume so have the prices in Portugal too. Here in Canada and the U.S.A, prices have dropped close to 50 percent in some locations. Thanks.

We arrived a week ago from Toronto where the price per litre for gasoline was around 82 cents. However here we paid Euro 1.17 at the Portimao shopping mall on the 125 (where AKI and Staples are); this seems to be the cheapest place to buy gas, as it is about 4 or 5 cents per litre cheaper. Seem to think that diesel is around the same price.

Just flew home to the UK. Amazingly fuel prices are cheaper here than in the Algarve. The cheapest fuel is definitely at the Continente station in the Portimao Shopping Centre with unleaded 95 at 1.179 euros per litre. The prices have not come down in line with the world oil price drop - I guess its tax or is it pure greed? Yes the euro/dollar currency exchange rate has dropped to account for some of the price but there must be a lot of tax or profit being made somewhere!!

Perhaps with the continuing fall of fuel prices someone could give us an update on the prices in Portugal.

I was in Florida last month (Dec.) and gas prices dropped on a daily basis. When we left for home the nearest station had regular unleaded at $1.59. Call it 40 cents a litre (US gallon is only about 4 litres) and that is 28p per litre at current exchange rates. In the US, diesel is about 10 cents more. Earlier in the year they had reached around $4 a gallon!

When we were on the Algarve in September fuel was indeed dearer than the UK (the first time I can recall this being the case). Unlike the UK though, diesel was cheaper than regular unleaded which suited me because for the first time my rental car turned out to be a Mitsubishi diesel!

Oh! for the days of the escudo when fuel prices were considerably less than the UK (but, then again so was everything else!).

Our gas is 63.9 cents CND a litre. Down from 1.79 last summer.
