Hi you lot! I'm still about, but nowadays I spend most of my time on the Hisaronu Forum . . . as someone on this forum will tell you!

You might remeber that me, Sharen, and my daughter Claire and her (newish) husband, Adam are coming over for Christmas and New Year.

What I'd like to know is, where's the best place to go on New Year's Eve?

Anyone got any ideas? We'd rather spend it out somewhere than in the villa (as nice as it is - it's a night for partying, and four people is too few for a really good time!).

All suggestions welcomed and invitations carefully considered!

How about going to church Mike---to pray that we all have a safer happier New year----The rev Greg Eckland at C.Clube church gives a rousing performance --so I hear
He certainly gave us all a good night in the square in our September hols

We were there last year at New Year and went to the Almansor. Had a brilliant evening. There were just 2 of us and we were put on a mixed table and it turned out a really fun evening. Food and drink were plentiful and very good. And then, around 2am, there was another buffet. All in all, really worth going to.

And the weather was really pleasant too. Really quite mild. AT least no rain, which we had a couple of weeks ago when we were over for a week.

We will be visiting Carvoeiro for New Year with children and wondered if anyone knows if restaurants close before midnight? Will there be fireworks in the square? Thank you.

Almansor have been in touch but they want too much money for one night's stay.

Mike, miss the dieting stories, come back, take no notice of ellie and maddi they have no sense of humor!!! The village is alive on New years Eve everywhere open is open til LATE restaurants like people to book due to getting numbers right, some have set menus. Try the bote, that's always agood bash. I don't think you'll have much problem finding something to suit you as there is always loads going on

New years eve, hmmmm, I would have to say Almansor too, it is the only new years eve party I have been to in Carvoeiro worth remembering.

If you are not up for that, you will always have the problem of travel if you go to Portimão, Albufeira, etc. (that is probably what Almansor is basing the prices on - its either a night in at € 250,-- or meet the GNR outside the hotel just after you have launched your car in to the wrong lane yet again and spend a night in the brig at € 300 )

Then again, everywhere else is expensive too and the Almansor was good value for money, unlike some other parties around town (boat on the beach comes to mind).

As you guys know I love CVO, and personally would be happy to pay whatever to enjoy the New Year festivities at the Almansor however . . . I cannot believe that my favourite foreign town really has only one New Year's bash worth going to . . . what a terrible shame .

Micheal, you should have booked Devon for your New Year hols, we can offer you dozens and dozens of brilliant New Year festivities to chose from.

Thanks for the advice and the kind comments.

I can afford the Almansor, (contrary to what one prat on this forum thinks) but I don't want to stay for 4 nights, just the one, New Year's Eve. So far they've not got back to me regarding this.

What I'll do is find out about the Almansor first, and then, if we can't come to an agreement on the accommodation for 1 night, I'll look at the bars and restaurants.

If I can't find anywhere then I'll have a BIG party at the villa and invite you all . . .

. . . but don't tell Mike about it, will you?
