Has anyone noticed that the above stations have gone missing recently? This would not affect anyone with Sky sports or movies.

Mike - Yes, I was over in early November and my BBC free to view card was giving out messages every 30 seconds or so , stating that the service would soon disappear.

yes because the old cards have now been disabled..you have to apply for a new one costing £23.00...well after you have bought your tv licence and a viewing card how lucky you are...not everyone has a FREE to view service.

thee is also now a difference between free to air (no card) and free to view (card reqd)

Dear guest, this is a topic for Portugal only (outside the UK) and has nothing to do with "Free to Air" which is only available in the UK and also very good. If you take the trouble to look at "digitalspy forums " there are arguements galore as to whose fault it is, if any. Please stick to the question, has it occured in Portugal on free to view as against your free to air. Has anyone managed to remedy the situation if it has.

Mike - I have spent considerable time looking at this problem and the only solution I can find is, unfortunetely to subscribe to Sky. The digital free to view is now completely finished - I called the BBC to confirm. If you have SKY in the UK,they will offer you a second card which replicates your first card service in terms of channel availability , irrespective of the package type ie you may have the top package but they will still charge you a flat £18 per month for the additional card.Of course as with the BBC card the service is officially restricted to UK use.

It is not really news, but just a freindly reminder about privacy and security:
If I were looking for illicit activities of individuals regarding the illegal viewing of UK television (free-to-air or not) outside the UK, I would have a field day on these forums.

Please be careful what you disclose on this or any other subject on-line: Remeber that it is illegal to watch television channels outside the country that they are licensed in and it is likely, that infractors will be pursued and punished sooner or later.

More and more people are being bitten by digital watchdogs enforcing copyrights, licences, etc. it is not only an unpleasant experience, they also have a nasty habit of striking out of the blue with next to no warning.

No matter how careful you tread on the net, you will always leave a footprint.

no you dont need to subscribe to sky to get a free to air card...you have to pay 23 pounds quoting your old card number..

as for watching illicitly...i am afraid i disagree...there should be no difference made in a single european market with the free movement of goods and services..if anyone is breaking the spirit if not the letter of the law it is SDky television,

It's run by MGT who are acting on behalf (call centre) of ITV CHans 4&5 who have lost viewers in the UK who use satallite ftv. (Sky switched it off)The card issued will be an upgraded card and will run until at least 31/12/2005. It costs a one off £23.50.

I applied for this new card. It arrived in 3 days - not the 10 suggested on their website.

Installed it yesterday, and it all works perfectly - on my UK Box of course
