Welcome!
Forget the negative comments, some people only exist to point out the negatives to the rest of us.
Nowhere's perfect, but Carvoeiro comes close in my book.

Welcome! We have had a house here for over 20 years and finally took the plunge and moved out here in June this year. Our daughter absolutely loves it at school and wouldnt go back to the UK, which to say this time last year, she was absolutely NOT coming to live here. It is the best thing we have ever done, we have met some lovely people so far, quite a few of them through the Forum. We are learning the language, albeit slowly, but at least we are making the effort. We are also joining a number of social and networking groups because we want to be a part of the community as a whole. So, when you do come out to live, embrace this beautiful place and the lovely people that live in and around here. There is far too much negativity in the world and just to wake up to sunshine most mornings makes such a difference.

As I am about to holiday there next year for the first time, can anyone point out the supposed negatives just so that I can be aware of them n advance and thereby enjoy the holiday as much as I hoped to.

Carvoeiro negatives. Lets think....
There aren't any disco's.
Most of the restaurants serve Portuguese food.
There aren't any high rise building from which to get a wide view.
I haven't yet found any slot machine arcades.
I'm sure other regulars can think of more...

No Burger King, Mcdonalds or Kentucky Fried Chicken.
I wouldn't go

Just as well Tricky as I hate that sort of holiday - so yes I think I will still be coming. Nice try though.
