Spent 2 1/2 hours wandering round the above last night. Just great. Lots of noise, music, crowds, animals, serpents - great atmosphere. Super trio on Iberian type bagpipes, great drumming, dozens of stalls, plenty to eat around and behind the Cãmara at very reasonable prices. Well worth a trip. Parking tricky! Suggest get there at about 6. Show is at 8 but never saw that. Well done Silves Cãmara. Leave the pushchairs at home though!

 would advise you get there early, and I mean early. We accidentally took the wrong road to go to Poco Barreto and joined the road as it comes down the hill towards Silves the road was packed and that was at 7.30pm.

It is worth it tho' great evening.

Wow, what an experience, this was definately the best festival we have ever been to. The atmosphere was superb, and one of the best things about it was that it was mainly Portugese people there, not just tourists. We had a great BBQ served on a roof tile ! Loads of stalls selling hand made local produce and music, events etc. To top it all, it was just like stepping back in time to the medieval period (as that is when it was set), as most people were dressed up in the authentic clothes of that time and the smells of the BBQs and incense was superb. The street setting of Silves made it an experience not to be missed, and certainly one of the finest examples of how to put on a festival to equal any other in the world. Well done Silves, we will be returning to that one whenever we're over here and highly recommended. An event not to be missed, the parking was ok, with a large new car park to the right of the castle. :)
