A while ago we saw rumours of a western algarve airport being in possible scope for development (Between Portimao and Lagos?). Does anyone know anything about this?

Two of the councils near Portimao want to build an airport near the racing track. Studies are underway. I'd say the earliest you'd be able to fly there, if ever, is about 2030 (and no, I don't mean half past eight!!)

I am quite happy flying to Faro, just saw something about this a while back then nothing since - it's not as if Faro is an inconvenience for Carvoeiro - and presumably the airport would mean noise impact for Carvoeiro

Faro's a grand airport, handy for CVO. Ryanair might use another airport if it were cheaper (ie if the airport give them money instead of the other way round!) but, like I say, I'd reckon it's literally decades away.

I heard that the airport at Beja was going to become an international airport. Good if you're staying in the Alentejo

Yeah, but about 3 hours from Carvoeiro.
