Yes, it's still open and Dave is still there, friends of ours went in on Tuesday night and left at 3am!

Thanks for your replies, I presume Dave is 'Bobby Stardust' of the Living Next door to Alice fame? He is great

I really don't know how he does it. He has been at it for years and still seems to generate the energy and interest to carry on. I spend a good bit of time in the village when its almost empty and when you walk in the door he is behind the bar serving the beer and you take one look and say to yourself "this guy has had enough I think he will pack it in very soon" but once he gets the guitar in his hand he is off again. Not the greatest singer you have ever heard but I really do admire his endurance and ability to keep smiling and most importantly the ability to keep others smiling. Keep up the good work Dave

Your are right Robbie! The thing that I find fascinating also is that in the middle of a song and the door opens - he can acknowledge you if he knows you- without missing a beat.

I've heard his jokes a hundred times at this stage Canada and you would think that they would have gone stale but its the way he delivers them. For anyone out there who hasn't been to the Jailhouse and have never heard the jokes or the music give it a visit. Dave is a genuine guy who really works hard to make people feel welcome and he has a lovely outlook on life. :D :D Just a slight warning for those with very young kids. Be careful not to let them sneak upstairs on their own as a young kid could easily fit between the gaps in the balcony looking down over the bar. They shouldnt really be up there on their own anyway unless they are using the toilets but just in case

The jokes are always the same - but I have to listen very carefully because of his accent. I lost a silly contest one night and was given a shot of medronho- god it was awful!
