Can anyone remind me please, is there anywhere in arrivals at the airport you where you can buy wine, spirits, minerals ?

I seam to be able to picture somewhere on your right hand side just after you have come through passport control. They is definatly a shop but not sure what it sells.

Isn't there a cafe area opposite the Car Hire point?

Bruce,if its a couple of bottles for the villa yer after I reckon your out of luck,but isn,t there a kind of stall in the baggage hall that sells cigs ,can,t remember if it does booze.

There is a small cafe area - sells vastly overpriced orange juice. Not noticed anything other than soft drinks though. You need to go into departures in order to purchase alcohol. Surely it would be easier to go to the supermarket (or are you in dire need of alcohol before you hit the road!)

I would have thought the most sensible option would be to purchase on the plane or duty free before you leave the UK.

Just wanted a little drinky when we arrive at the villa, we intend hitting Intermarche on Friday morning. The supermarket will probably be closed when we arrive that's why I asked!

Try stopping at the services on the motorway - one of them has a small Modelo - I think it is the Loule one

The garage across from the airport is a 24 hour one and knowing portugal it has to have a couple of bottles of something drinkable.Failing that ,there must be some kind friend can stash a bottle or two in a ditch for ye.

Normally you can arrange for who ever manages your villa/apartment to put in some water,milk, bread, wine and beer for you, and you pay them directly for what they supply.

Is this not the easier solution for you? Especially as you seem to be coming in late in the evening.

Can't you buy duty free on the plane any more?

Not from the UK unless we are going out of Europe or the Canary Islands.

Prices are not duty free at the airport, it is cheaper to buy in the local shops.

We arrived late one year and the motorway service shop supplied everything we needed to chill out before bed.

By that I mean a bottle of gin!
