Is it just me or has the weather been particularly Sh** all this year. I spent Christmas in the village and it was beautiful (at least it was after the disasterous flooding on 17th ) and again spent a cloud free week in heaven at the end of March but every time I enter the forum the weather is "poor" to put it nicely and I have sent a lot of friends down (6 different parties so far this year) to sample the village on my recommendation and most of them got washed home I would particularly like to hear from some of the old stagers. What I refer to as "real Carvoeirians" who have witnessed different weather patterns for a lot of years. I have personally been ridiculously lucky when it comes to weather in Carv. so don't want to tempt fate but was interested to get your views.

I was last out at the end of April. The first three days were dire... and I thought we were used to rain in the Scottish West Highlands.

I am going out again this comming week and hope that the sun will be with me, although the past month has been totally rain free in the West Highlands... uh oh... there's a cloud in the sky now... that's what I get for opening my big mouth... roll on next week

I've lived here for nine years and I can't remember ever still being in my jeans and long sleeves in May and the night times are still really cold. At the moment it's really grey. My husband who is Portuguese says that years ago this is what the weather was always like, with only July and August being the true summer months. I myself love this weather as I can't stand it too hot and it also means my three year old isn't a prisoner in his own home and can get out to play in the garden without the possibility of getting burnt. I was actually saying to my sister the other day that I'm dreading the day that I wake up and the weather has broken and then it's just hot hot hot. Obviously I'm living in the wrong country!!

Funny you saying that Helen..about your Hub, saying it was like that years ago.
I heard from a friend in Silves, that our mutual friend , a Portuguese lady from the Alentejo, also has said that the same; that the weather was like this when she was younger
I remember, from our time in Algarve (early 90s) that by May the weather was really warm. In fact in our first year there, I can remember us driving from Lagoa to our workshops near Algoz, via the back roads and of almost feeling a kind of panic because the air coming through the car windows was really 'hot' ! ..
and I thought at that time, if its like this in May whats it going to be like by August!

I am sure you know of these holiday swaps where families switch countries and their houses for a vacation in the summer. Can we look at doing the same but the only difference is that we make it permenant Now heres my sales pitch. I live on the coast with an uninterrupted view of the sea from both upstairs and down. The beer is free flowing and the craic (irish terminology not american crack !!!) is good. We all drive big cars and the standard of living is reasonably high. The only down side """"""IT RAINS 24/7"""""""" I firmly believe I was switched at birth . I was taken home by an irish family by mistake !!!! Roll on 4 weeks so that I can get back to my true home.

Great sailing weather, Robbie. Suits me fine, although I am heading out to CVO on Tuesday for another week, so I hope the sun is shining as brightly as it is in the West Highlands.

That sounds ideal, with views like that who cares about the rain? I'm moving back to Scotland next year so my boy can go to school there and I'll divide my time between there and here, coming back here at school holidays etc., so I'll have the best of both worlds. Can't wait!
