Hi

Does anyone know if the Island cafe bar will be open late october or recomend any other places to eat at this time of year?

Also will O literal be open at Benagil?

Aren't most places open in October? I didn't know anywhere shut at that time of year, its usually still nice and warm here. But I haven't actually been to either place, so I wouldn't know for sure.......

O'Litoral is usually open in October .

Island Cafe should be open, last year we had a great Christmas meal there on the 7th December and it closed around 15th December.

We've had quite a few good meals here, but the last couple of visits have been very disappointing, not sure we'll be going back, which is a shame

Do you know if the American Chef is still there kteee? We too would hate to lose this one.

Yes he was still there - we've given it a couple of tries since the first disappointing experience last autumn, because we have had some great meals there, but unfortunately I think we've given them enough chances now - a real shame as I loved their calamari and tuna steaks

Agree on the seared tuna, best I've had in a long time, but it was unavailable on the last couple of visits. Maybe a sign of falling standards. Shame if all it becomes is a burger restaurant. It is much too elegant for that.

Has anyone talked to the American Chef? I believe the kitchen is open, so why not ask about the tuna, and give feedback to Chef? From what I´ve seen from going there, if you are not happy with the food they will correct it. I think any feedback, good or bad will only help a place define itself.

They were quite aware of the problems we had, in fact the waiting staff were very embarrassed

There is a world wide shortage of fresh tuna and prices are becoming prohibitively expensive.

I'm afraid that doesn't explain the problems we've had at Island Cafe on our last couple of visits

kteee, I agree. A restaurant is only as good as the last meal. Unfortunately, the last 3 visits have been disappointing. Has the chef left?

Glad (in a way) it's not just me - I'm sure the chef was there the last few times we went, let's hope they read this thread!
