Hi all. Just back from heaven and delighted to see everything was just as it should be including Mr golden sun being on his best behaviour. I am looking for a bit of help. A family have decided to join us in the summer but can only fly to Lisbon. Can anyone tell me what is the train or bus service like to and from Lisbon. Where would be the best place to drive and pick them up from. Any advice would be appreciated.

From Lisbon International head to Lisbon "Entrecampos" station (about 5 minutes by cab from the airport)
Take the IC or better yet the Alpha Pendular train (www.cp.pt) to Tunes near Albufeira.

Pick them up at Tunes station, which is about halfway to the airport.

Sounds good Gambrinus. I enquired about a transfer and was given a price of €300 each way to pickup a family of 5. You could buy a small car for that sort of price.

I was only joking liz   But 600 euro is a lot of bucks in anyones language. Whenever I retire to heaven maybe there is an opening there to run such a service for a reasonable rate. There are bound to be a lot of people who fly to Lisbon and require a reasonably priced transfer (I can see my first million rolling in already !!!) and as part of the service you get non stop Irish jokes the whole way down the road

Hey she's right and the Alpha is a wonderful mode of transport, don't eat the food though Transfers?? just get off the plane and get on the train, make sure its the Alpha though, another strange thing they run exactly on time, 15,37 means 15,37 not 36 or 38, 37

We have been to Lisbon a couple of times for a long weekends. The train journey from Lisbon to Tunes is great, 1st class is better. When you get to Tunes the local train to Lagos is usually waiting at the next platform and leaves within 5 minutes. I would suggest that you get this train and get of at Estomber which is 10 minutes away.

Agreed on the train. We always catch it at Oriente though. Is Entrecampe better? If you have time to kill, the shopping/atmosphere is nice around Oriente.
