hi, ive been coming to carvoeiro for many years, but never managed to find out how the gas work is regulated. im aware that most of the villas run with lpg to hot water boilers etc, but am not sure if there is an equivilant system to CORGI in portugal, i am interested as i have been contemplating the possibility of offering annual servicing maintenance and breakdown cover for all the gas systems but am keen to find out more, if anyone knows anything id be most grateful,
andy.

andy , ive been doing servicing and breakdowns for six months , advertising in the resident , trouble is getting your work signed off by portugese company to make it legal.

cheers for that,
i assume the portugese firms have some kind of licence to work on it then do they...
are you getting much work in general..?
do you do any solar stuff at all?

andy , probably plenty solar work available i havent done that kind of work, but portugese companies will use all the portugese labour , british people really have to go self employed and work to the ex pats , i know one portugese plumber who does gas and he will work for 7.5 euro an hour , but mostly its between 10--15 an hour , but it aint easy , but the sun shines most days and beer is 1 euro a bottle .

i think i'll look into the solar side more, you would expect there to be a market for it, especially for heating the pools...
i really appreciate your advice,
cheers,
andy
