Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and am in need of some advice. We have booked to come out to carvoeiro, staying in the Villa Fontes and was wondering if anyone knows what the villa is like and is it in a safe area? i've been feeling a bit scared about security with reading some of the stories on this site about break-ins, robberies etc, never been to portugal before and am travelling with the in laws, hubby and little boy. Basically i'm just looking for a bit of reassurance.
:? xx

Where is this villa?
Dont be alarmed. this has to be one of the safest areas there is. That is one of the reasons that the Maddy thing, 20 miles down the coast came as such a shock.
There are no yobbos in football shirts, no rowdiness. It's a family place.

Carvoeiro is a lovely area, and most of us on this forum are witness to the fact that once you come here, you fall in love with the place.

I hope you and your family will learn to love it too :D

I looked at the villa, but couldnt get the google map to show the location.
difficult to tell, but is obviously fairly central, possibly up behind the "restaurant hill", or on Algar Seco.

Have a lovely holiday

I hope you enjoy your holiday in CVO. We have our own apartment right in the town and last year we let a friend stay there for a week, she has a 4 year old son. They thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and are planning to go back this year
You and the family will be fine as there is plenty to see and do even if you don't move out of the town. Lots of different choices of restaurants, little shops to browse around and a lovely little beach for the young and old to enjoy.
We are back there next Thursday, can't wait.
so go ahead and enjoy

:D All i can say is roll on 10 weeks tomorrow - when we will be back in Carvoeiro - cannot wait - to get away from this country - even though it is only for 10 days - until the next break in August.

The tranquility and beauty of Rocha Brava - what more could one want :D

Hi I stayed in the villa next door to Villa Fontes in Casa Leoes which is right next door to your villa with a shared drive but they are completely seperate.
They are based on the main road (restaurant hill) behind barclays bank, It is a great location for all the local shops, bars and restaurants and far back enough not to get any noise from the road.

We had a great time when we where there and would recommend the Villa we stayed in.

Hope you have a great holiday, Im really jealous!!!

I stayed at Fontes in 2006 and returning this year in July. It is quite central - just up restaurant hill. Great position, very quiet and the pool area is totally unoverlooked. The villa itself is clean and relatively roomy, but no sea view - not that it matters. Have a great time.

Hi
I can second what rabbit said about the location and if its anything like the villa next door you will be fine. The villa i was in was well equipped and had a playstation and pool table to keep the kids amused also it had satalite tv. If i could find anything to moan about it would be that the bed was very uncomfortable, but im picking- anyway a few vodkas and i slept like a baby!!!

Enjoy your holiday, I wish i was going with you :D
