We've been to Carvoeiro on numerous occasions, but always in Summer.

We're considering coming in Feb or Mar 2008, but have a couple of questions.

[b]What is the weather like at that time of year ?
Are all of the shops and restaurants open ?[/b]

Also, we've always hired a car in the past, but this time we may get a taxi from the airport.

[b]How much does a taxi cost from Faro ?[/b]

Predicting weather is a lottery these days, but on previous occasions that I've been in CVO in Feb its been sunny and warm or it has rained. The evenings are definitely chilly (could drop to a bitterly cold 10C !)

Most of the shops will be open, and most restaurants will be gradually opening after winter hols. You can definitely find somewhere different every night of the week that will be open.

A taxi from Faro will set you back around €60 each way. But a car rental from our webmaster here will cost around €85 per week (plus optional extras), so if its a short visit, why not take a car ?

I think you will be plesantly surprised if you come then. It is obviously much quieter but it means you have better service, less stress and plenty of room on the beaches, well everywhere really! I have found thatv the weather in feb and march is usually better than in April but do be prepared for the odd cloudy or rainy day. I usually think its about 4 good days out of 7 at that time of year but thats being on the cautious side.
A friend of mine used a taxi service from Faro that she booked over the net and it only cost her 29 pounds return!! In the summer its a bus service but out of season you get yr own private taxi, she swore by them but I have never used them, if yr interested tho here are the details.

As for shops and bars etc, everything is more or less open by Feb and almost all by march and as i said, you will get better service at this time of year so just enjoy!!
