Just thought I would let you know that the rain has arrived in Carvoeiro today. It was only light at first but its pretty heavy now and we have high winds too. Its meant to last at least a couple of days, on the plus side though it is a lot warmer now and you only have to use three blankets on the bed now rather than five!!

supposed to be a rough nigt according to Portuguese met office. My colleague up in Vila Real left early to go to Porto as it was snowing so hard up there he feared the road would be closed so we are not too badly off here :D

Just had an update from the apartment. The novelty of the lightning has worn off now and they are getting really p****d with it all. They want to come home. They only arrived yesterday and because they have no car until I arrive tomorrow they have very little heat, no sticks to light a fire and living on tea and biscuits     How am I going to retieve the situation when I go down tomorrow ????? They will all demand the next plane home    Who's bright idea was it to spend Christmas in Carvoeiro will be the chant !!!!
Anyone with ideas please feel free to post

"Who's bright idea was it to spend Christmas in Carvoeiro will be the chant !!!!"

Yours . . . when you were drunk! :P

Don't worry about taking off . . . worry about landing!

Sharen and I have a few of 'mishaps' at Faro:

We took off, were climbing nicely, starting to bank over when Sharen saw something fly past the window . . . and directly into the starboard engine! It was a flock of seagulls (and they are BIG buggers close up!) and we had to make an emergency landing. :?

The next incident was that after take-off the landing-gear warning light told the pilot the wheels were up . . . and down! Not sure of where the wheels were, he flew past the Control Tower and was told they were down and we had to land again!

And, last year, when we flew in there was a lot of ground fog about and we were going to be diverted to Lisbon . . . but the pilot saw a gap in the fog and landed!!!

And now we could be facing thunder and lightning? Oh joy.

Forget electric blankets Robbie, make sure you all have hot water bottles... I have loads and I shall be using each and every one of them, including the penguin that I can heat up in the microwave :D
