Can anyone give me any advice ?

We have been to Carvoerio many times (Approx 9-10), and love it. We came out last New Year & also in June. We want to come again this New Year (28th Dec for approx 10 days), however, the cost of Flights seems to have increased tenfold !! We have been advised to fly to Lisbon, hire a car & drive to CVO - Flying to Lisbon is apparently Cheaper.
Has anyone done this ? Does anyone have any advise for us ?
We really want to get on the Beach again on New Years Day !!
Any advice would be helpful.

Many Thanks,
Lotte

Hi Lotte,

To be honest, we've always done it the other way around. My husband's family all live just outside Lisbon and we find it cheaper to fly to Faro and hire a car from there. Interested to see what other people come up with.

yes the transfer from Lisbon is 2 hours approx. Its not a bad drive either and given that it is about 40-45 minutes from Faro it is not a huge difference. I too have been keenly keeping an eye on flights to Faro for the new year but believe me it is always the same from Ireland. They go through the roof at that time of the year. You could fly out cheaply if you go before Christmas (19th or 20th) but I cannot do that with young children. I have also had very little luck with cheap flights to Lisbon either so I guess it will be winter woolies and a few beers at home and watch the wizard of ozzzzzzz. I will just have to put more effort into my trip in October !!!! :D

Look at other airports in England, Husbands Sister fly from Birmingham and is lot cheaper than ours from Manchester.

Recently a friend had to fly back to England at short notice & was horrified at the prices from Faro so she flew out of Seville & saved herself a considerable amount.

always worth shopping around.
If you are happy travelling at off peak times of the day or day of the week, there is so much choice flying to Faro. I cannot think of a major airport in the UK that does not have flights to Faro. If you want a list of Airports and Airlines ... let me know !!! You'd be surprised how many flights there are.
We flew back from Faro to Gatwick at the end of June on a Saturday. in a two hour period, there were about 15 flights all to the UK and 7 flights to Gatwick !!!!

The Easyjet, flight from Liverpool to Lisbon looks considerably cheaper than flying into Faro, from either Mcr or l'pool.

Our villa manager flys quite a lot to the UK and allways uses Seville,he reckons its so much cheaper and the drive is only about 3 hours, also car hire is a lot cheaper.
