Missing Items

Just returned from another wonderful week in CVO, only this time the trip has been marred by items found to be missing from my suitcase when unpacking after my return!
All the items missing were small ie; Mp3 Player, Aftershave etc...
My suitcase never left my side until being checked-in at Faro Airport
and collecting from the carasol at Humberside.
Any one else had a problem? This has never happened to me before in the eight years I have been to CVO!

I have been travelling for over 30 years and ( touch wood ) never lost anything .
I do not pack anything of value ( and easily taken ) in hold luggage.
Its surprising how much you can carry in a small hand baggage size or in your pockets.
( Suggest multi pocket jacket ).
Remenber when Heathrow was know as Thiefrow.

Yes this happened to a friend of mine in april when he had 2 packets of cigarettes taken out of a new carton in his bag. The lock was also broken. My own bag seemed also to have been searched as there was some unexplained paper sheets left inside it (presumably to avoid fingerprints). We traveled on different days and on different airlines so the problem is with the baggage handlers at Faro (Groundforce).
I e-mailed the airport on return and got the standard reply -take it very seriously and passed it on to the handling agent etc.
I guess that with all the new security more people are putting things in their bags and it's a rich seam for thieves. As it's very difficult to complain as you don't discover it until you are home the likelyhood of them being caught is low.
So e-mail Vitor Andrade at
ibpms@ana.pt and add your voice.

My step-son had cigs and a few good T shirts taken, he had flown with Jet2 this was about 18 months back I think, needless to say they did nothing about it.

I agree that its most likely to be airport staff, but wondered whether there could be any pattern with any airline.
I think its terrible that you can't trust these people. If you can't trust them with your baggage then can you trust them at all?

I had a bottle of perfume and a few cd's missing when I came home and I thought I had forgot them and left them at the villa.
I didnt think at all that they had been taken from my case, I will be more careful when packing next time.

Light-fingered airline baggage handlers at Faro are welcome to help themselves to my dirty underwear whenever they want. Anything of value is always carried with me as hand luggage.
