We are coming out to CVO next Monday for a week Can't wait!

BUT we have looked at some long range forecasts, and weather looks pretty wet from about 24th May Although it looks fab now!

So we were wondering what there is to do in the wet weather, especially for our ten year old. Any advice would be appreciated!

I have just done a scroll on weather in the Algarve over the last ten years and now seems to be the wettest and most mis mashed weather of em all. The previous two years were the dryest.

Try ten pin bowling at Praia de Rocha or Algarve shopping.

Many thanks for your replies. Looks more certain weather will change, we should have come out this week! Never mind, will think about hiring a car and explore inland maybe?

Can anyone advise on driving in the Algarve, is it relatively easy, or not?

Driving is simple, especially when you get away from the coast because the roads are usually very quiet and driving can actually be fun. The castle at Silves is well worth a visit and there's a good museum there. A boat trip up the river from Portimao possibly as the boats are covered.

What about the cinema, all the latest films max price 5.20€ (special deals pay full price get free ticket for next visit if you buy another full price ticket then ie 2 for 1).
Great sound and good seating at Continent Portimao and Guia.

Good for a hot day as well,airconditioned if fact can be a bit too cool at times

What language are the films shown in ? Very few of us tourists speak Portugese

English with Portuguese subtitles if the original film is American or English but take care if it is an animated film eg Shreck then there are usually two versions the original and a Portuguese one.

Forgot to mention special reduced prices on a Monday.

the cinema sounds like a very useful place to kill a wet afternoon.

Most children's films will be dubbed in Portuguese so beware.
I know this from experience as I went to see Madagascar which opens with New York, New York (all ok so far) and then launches into Portuguese!!
It was still good as my portuguese was good enough for me to get the gist of it (I even laughed in all the right places) but kids might be very put off.
Other things to do would include......
Bowling
Shopping (Guia or Faro)
Day trip to Lisbon (only 2 and a bit hours away)
ZooMarine
Silves
Caldas de Monchique
to name but a few
