You can start from Lagoa bus station. Take a look at this link for the timetable:

Wouldn't bother neil place is a dump, we went in taxi last year dropped us off at the strip [ cross between blackpool and magaluf]. Although i hear the old town is very nice which is quite away from the strip . think it was about 25euros in taxi. waste of money.

Neil, my first visit to the Algarve was fortuitously Carvoeiro and I come back time after time. Had it been Albufeira I would never have come back to the Algarve and missed out on this wonderful part of Portugal. I have travelled around most of the Western Algarve and whilst most of it is terrific I have to agree with Jose that Albufeira is a dump. If you want the Algarve equivalent of Benidorm with English Pubs, English Cafes and Timeshare/Scratchcard touts pouncing on you every 25 mtrs then go there, otherwise my advice is give it a wide berth.

Have to agree with Jose and Terry, our first visit to the Algarve was in the old town of Albufeira about 10 years ago, was much nicer then than it is now,but the strip is just like blackpool --- cheap trashy shops and annoying time share touts. We have been to Carvoeiro 4 times and hopefully be back in may (hubby had an accident at work and we have to wait until 8th may to see the consultant to see if he is fit to fly and we are due to fly to faro on 17th may) , so better not mock blackpool as we may well be going there instead by train all the way from bonnie scotland

Thank you everyone for your great responses, if im honest i know Albufeira isnt great, it was the Old Town that i liked the most and totally agree that touting is a real problem there.
Thanks for your advice may think of alternative places to visit.
If anyone does now of any good not too expensive attractions other than Slide and Splash and Krazy World, please feel free to let me know.
Do you think Slide and Splash will be busy Last few days of May and first few days of June. Enjoyed it there but i suppose every place has its goods time to go and not so good.
Thanks Again

Sylvester, have you been to Zoo Marine? Hubby and I went last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, dolphin show was superb.
We went out in a speed boat, think it was at Lagos, at some big marina, and went to see the dolphins, brilliant trip, we were a bit wet but dried quickly with the heat, well worth going to see them if you havent done this before. We would certainly do it again. It cost about £30, think we had beans and toast for tea that night!
