Closing GNR station

I have just been told (inside information), the GNR station is to close in Carvoeiro! It hasn't been officially announced yet, but will be in the next couple of days!
Supposedly to reduce costs?? The building is rent free....the water & electric is paid by the Lagoa council...their internet, phones and radios are paid for by the local Fregasia!! The GNR itself only has to fund wages & fuel.Yet the officers from Carvoeiro will be posted in Lagoa....so where is the reduction? They will probably spend more on diesl, if they intend on patrolling Carvoeiro?
Yet again the area that creates a good portion of the TAX income for the area, is being raped of what it requires! So when we (hopefully) have thousands of tourists in Carvoeiro during the summer months, our nearest plod will be based 5/6km away! Yet again Lagoa receives more resources than required...and Carvoeiro yet again loses out!!!
I bet the local theives are rubbing their hands together!

I hope not, we have used the local GNR quite a few times and although on the Carvoeiro/Lagoa border we still would like to be able to use the Carvoeiro GNR. I definitely think Carvoeiro needs it.

Another administrative decision to save money on one of the few regions of Portugal that actually generates revenue. Take it from the Algarve, they don't need anything as long as they have sun and beaches
